• I went out to the warehouse and pulled some Yakima RailGrabs, # Y00138, to measure the area that covers the crossbars for you. I got a measurement of 4-1/2 inches where the bar will be covered by the RailGrab and either end for a total of 8-1/2 inches. If your intended application cannot straddle the RailGrabs, longer bars would not help because the space between the 2 RailGrabs will not change, just the amount that is coming out the other end away from the vehicle.

• I checked with Yakima and as long as your 2012 Toyota Tacoma is a 4 door double cab model and you have the factory raised side rails on the truck, see attached photo, the Yakima RailGrab Towers, # Y00138, will work for you.
