The first thing we need to do is lower the spare tire so we have a little extra working room. What we need to do next is install the bolts in the frame. The hitch uses this hole here and this hole thats taped up. Sometimes both holes are taped up, its no big deal, its just a matter of slicing a hole in them and installing the bolts. Make sure this wire gets pushed out of the way because there is a plate on the hitch that will cover up most of the area and you do not want to pinch this. Well do the same thing for the other side. Next we need to install the bolts which means threading the wire lead onto the bolt, and then the plate and putting the hole assembly through the hole, and pulling it back through.
As you can see this hole is a little deformed, well have to pry it out to make the bolt fit and it wont take much. Also make note when you install the plates make sure they are not overlapping each other and that they are sitting not perfectly straight, but as long as they are not on top of each other they will be fine. At this point we can hang the hitch by the bolts we installed. When you install the hitch make sure that these tabs are behind or going towards the front of the vehicle of this pinch weld right here. Once you get all your bolts installed, center the hitch around the exhaust make sure you have plenty room and center the hitch on the vehicle too. Once you have that, go ahead and snug up the bolts and then well start drilling out our holes. Once you have your hitch snugged up the way you want it, these tabs right here, you actually punch holes through this pinch weld here and come out the other side. That is the last of your mounting bolts. Now that we have our holes drilled out we simply install our hardware. The head of the bolt sticks towards the outside, and the nut goes towards the back just like that. Now we can tighten our bolts down to their final torque. Once you have the hitch in place and tightened down, the next step is to replace your spare tire. That covers it for part # V82571 on a 2004 Buick Rendezvous.
