Today on this 2006 Toyota Highlander Hybrid, we are going to install part number V81310 from Valley. The first step we need to do is go ahead and get the frame ready to install the hitch. That means we have got to take down this tie down bracket here and take out the little plugs that cover up the holes. The hitch is going to install at this bolt hole and these two bolt holes here that we just uncovered. Looking at the driver side, it is going to use these three existing holes also. But since these are exposed to the elements, we are going to take some time out to clean out the threads so we can run the bolts in and out.
Run your bolt in just a few threads and then back it out a little bit and then spray it down again. Go ahead and get the first few threads cleaned out really good so you can make sure you have got the bolt going in straight. At this point we can go ahead and start installing the hitch in the vehicle. It would be a good idea to have an extra set of hands on this one to hold up one side while you start the other side. We have got one bolt in each side to hold it in place. Now I will go ahead and install the rest of the bolts. And then after that we can torque the bolts down as specified in the instructions. All right, with the bolts torqued down, that pretty much finishes your install of part number V81310 from Valley.
