This ball mount is designed to tow and carry accessories such as bicycle racks and cargo carriers at the same time with a trailer. Now well show you proper usage. It simply installs into the hitch like any other ball mount and you can add you accessories on top of that. One thing we should note about the ball mount part of this device is this shank is a one inch shank that uses a variety of ball mounts. Just remember that the towing capacity of this draw bar is only 5,000 pounds with 500 pounds tongue weight. Now well show you how a bicycle rack will reside on top of the ball. As you can see this is a versatile ball mount, you can use two things at the same time. Just a couple things you want to make sure of before you use this ball mount. On the tongue rating, you only have 500 pounds of tongue weight, make sure your hitch can carry that amount and make sure that your trailer and your bicycle rack with the bicycles on does not go over 500 pounds. The only problem I found was when you put the ball in its hole. and then add a bike rack that sits over the ball you can't hitch up your car. the distance between the ball and bottom of the shaft going into the upper holder is less than the lock arm on the hitch. 19998

I bought this because the hitch on my Toyota Sienna was too low to the ground and caused my Thule bike rack to bottom out when entering driveways with steep inclines. It raised the bike rack high enough off the ground that there is no more bottoming out. 17530

I bought this product to use with a kayak trailer. The trailer is built on a standard jon boat frame and uses a Class 3 hitch and 2 inch ball. I was looking for a way to carry the trailer, 2 kayaks and 2 bikes on a trip to Florida. I was not familiar with a ball-mount/receiver combination but after seeing the product on the E Trailer site, it looked like it would let me attach a hitch-mounted bike rack to the top receiver and the kayak trailer to the ball mount. I was very impressed by the expert service and quick shipping that I received from Etrailer; This was my first experience with this company. I called them from work late in the day on a Friday and spoke at length with Titus in the order department. He reviewed the dimensions of the product with me and suggested that I make certain measurements and call him back before 8 in the evening. We spoke again, placed the order and it shipped that night (on a Friday). I received the product on Tuesday with standard shipping. I do most of my shopping online and I can truthfully say that I have never received this level of service before. I used the trailer and this ball mount/receiver for the first time on a recent 2000 mile trip to Florida. The bike rack fit exactly into the receiver and was the perfect solution for carrying both bikes and boats; moreover, I was able to access the back fold-out window on my SUV with the bikes attached to the rack.
