TruXedo TruXport aerodynamic design

The TruXport is an economically priced choice for protecting your truck bed, installing easily in minutes and cutting gas costs with an aerodynamic design that reduces tailgate drag.

TruXport installs with rails along the top of your truck bed walls, held in place by clamps - three per side. A front and rear header hold the cover assembly in place; Velcro strips along the rails secure the cover; and weather seals on all four sides help to keep dust, rain and snow out of your truck bed.

TruXedo TruXport dual latching system with built-in tension control

The TruXport features a dual-latching mechanism that secures the tonneau cover at your tailgate. This mechanism includes a built-in tension control that automatically sets the tension of your tonneau cover when the rear header is snapped into place. This ensures that you never need to manually adjust the tension of the cover. The latches can be released one at a time, so you don't need a partner - or a giant wing span - to open the cover.

TruXedo TruXport cover rolled up and stored

A pair of security straps holds the tonneau in place behind the cab when it is rolled up, allowing full access to the truck bed. The rear header and crossmembers roll up with the cover to form a compact roll. The cover unrolls and latches in seconds, forming a secure rear cargo area when used in conjunction with a locked tailgate. TruXport cannot be released unless the tailgate is opened first.

The TruXport offers a smooth appearance on your truck bed with no arched bows. The tonneau cover rails sit only 1-1/2" above your truck's bed rails.

TruXedo TruXport Tonneau Cover Review

Video Transcript for TruXedo TruXport Tonneau Cover Review

Today we are going to install a tonneau cover on our 2009 Ford F-150. We will use a tonneau cover from TruXedo. And it is going to be our TruXport tonneau cover, and its part number is going to be 298101. To begin our install, we have to install a couple of seals that go on the very corners of the rails themselves. It is a stick-on affair, so it is pretty easy to do. All right, next we will go ahead and take the tonneau cover itself and the front rail and go ahead and put that onto the truck. That can be simply right up front for now.

Next what we will do is slide our side rails onto the side of the truck and push into this section of the front rail here. What that does is, it just slides into here. It is going to be a tight fit, so it may need some extra persuasion. Next we will install our clamps, and just for now we are just going to leave them loosely installed. Just basically we are going to put them in the spot where they are going to be at we are not going to tighten them down. All right, next what we are going to do is to go ahead and take the time to get our rails straight on the bed. We may have to readjust the front rail a little bit and make sure it is sitting on the bulkhead rail and then even out the rail on the side of the bed itself.

Next, take a moment to align these rails with the inside edge of the bed itself, because the outside rail you can tell is at a curve, and you want to go by the inside edge and and just sight it up by that. But for our initial setup of the front rails and side rails, we will go ahead and tighten down the front clamps. And this is the point we have got to do our next measurement on. With our back rail of the tonneau cover, we have got to bring this in and bring it within about 1/8 of an inch of the end of the cover. And then clamp it down into place. And you may have to do this a couple of times to get it to a perfect fit. OK, we will roll the cover back just to do one more test of it. OK, that should do it. We will go ahead and go back to our center clamps and tighten those down.

Next we will attach our weather seals to the back rail of the tonneau cover that just simply sticks on. All right, the next thing we need to do is adjust the tension on our clamp here. To make our quick adjustment here, you can do it by this little spin wheel right here. Spin it, and you can see how it moves back and forward. Actually it will take two or three tries to get it to the tension that you want to set it at. OK, then to unlatch the cover, just take this lever here and just push it back. And one last thing is to check for proper clearance with the top of the tailgate itself. And once you have it rolled up, you can actually keep it strapped in position with the Velcro straps while you have your load in the bed itself. All right, and that covers our review of part number 298101 from TruXedo, their TruXport Tonneau Cover.
