Today we are going to show you the Thule Frontier Roof Mounted Cargo Box with Easy Snap U-bolt Mounts part number TH668ES. The box features impact-resistant, UV-protective, vacuum-molded ABS plastic construction. The Thule Frontier features 11 cubic feet of storage space and opens from the passenger side. The quick release hardware will allow you to quickly mount the box to your roof racks crossbars and easily remove it when not in use. The Thule Frontier is designed to fit Thule load bars, round crossbars, and most factory installed crossbars. The quick mount system consists of a U-bolt and the clamp. There is also rubber gasket pads that go on the underside of the clamp inside the box to seal out moisture. 00:43

To operate the clamp you will pull up the red tab which unlocks it. You will open it part way and you will feel it stop, push a second click to completely unlock the clamp. The U-bolt slips in from the bottom and you close the clamp. Once closed, push the red tab down and we are locked into position. You will see the mounting holes for the quick system clamp in the rear. Our quick mount clamp fits into them and then snaps into place. Make sure you install the clamps facing you so when you have the box open you can operate the locking mechanism. Thule also includes black vinyl stickers to cover up the unused holes. The Frontier requires minimum spacing of 23-5/ 8 inches on your crossbars and a maximum spacing of 32-7/ 8 inches. Now we are ready to mount the box on the roof rack of our vehicle. 01:37

Be sure to center the box from left to right and once you have that done open it up and we will install the U-bolts on the underside of our crossbar. The box features a locking mechanism and the key can only be removed when locked. This helps to prevent accidentally locking the key inside the box. We are going to unlock our clamps by pulling up the red tab like we showed you earlier, we will come underneath the box and lift it up if we need to and slip the U-bolt through the holes on the underside of the clamp. Once we have our U-bolt pushed through we will close the clamp and lock it down. Also included with the Thule Frontier are a set of load straps. The load straps attach to pleats on the end of the quick mount system and they simply cross from the driver side over to the passenger side to secure our cargo. You can use the Thule Frontier to load things like packages, skis, or luggage. We are going to loosen the load straps that we installed earlier and we will use them to secure a couple pairs of skis inside the box. With the box loaded we will use the pull strap to help us pull the lid down and once the lid is properly closed you can lock down the box and remove the key.
