Shipping SpecialLoading and unloading made easy with this single bike roof mounted carrier. Simple dial adjustment secures a clamp around your bike's tube, while the push of a button releases it. The wheel tray design further helps to stabilize your bike.
The hook and dial can be placed on either side of the rail which makes it easier to place the rack on the driver or passenger side of the vehicle.
Turning the dial closes the clamp which grabs the bike frame. To open, simply push the button located to the side of the dial. A lock cylinder (pictured) can be added to secure the bike to the Criterium rack.
To secure the wheels, straps are slid through the wheel and tightened with ratchets. Again, with a push of a button, the strap is let go to make bike removal quick and easy.
This innovative, upright rack provides a great roof mounted option for your bike carrying needs. The mounting system of this bike rack minimizes frame contact, making it ideal for today's monocoque and aggressive frame designs. A sculpted wheel tray and support arm clamp work together to simplify loading your bike, and unloading is accomplished in seconds with a convenient dial release. Whether you tackle the mountains or hit the streets, you can ensure the safe and easy transport of your bike there and back with Thule's Criterium.

Today we are going to review part number TH598 from Thule. This is the Thule Criterium roof-mounted bike rack. And what this rack does is, it mounts to a variety of different rooftop racks on vehicles, be it a factory roof rack or other brands that are out there. We will go ahead and cover the points of this bicycle rack and show you how it works, how it gets connected, and how it looks on a typical application.
We will cover some of the features of this bicycle rack first off, the rear wheel tie-down that goes over the rim of the rear wheel and latches it into place. This is moveable up and down the rail, too. And moving up the rail is the rear tie-down point, where actually this rack right here wraps around the rail of your roof rack and gets latched into place. The next point is the jaws right here. This actually grabs the downtube of your bicycle and holds it into place. It is padded, with some light grooves in there to give you some room for the cables on your bicycle. And this jaw is activated by this knob down here. And basically the operation of this is you tighten down the knob here. It clamps down on the bicycle frame. And then when you want to release the clamp, there is a little trigger on the bottom here. And on the bottom there are, of course, two more hooks that will latch onto the front bar of your roof rack. And at the front of the bicycle rack here is a front wheel tie-down point. It works just like the back wheel, so obviously in this case you do not have to worry about taking the wheel off the bicycle to mount it on this rack.
We have got a rack just sitting on our crossbars for now. Let us go ahead and install it and clamp it into position. Just get that latch there and then just go ahead and tighten the handle down. When you get it just snug, then you can go ahead and lock down the handle itself. OK, and then we just go ahead and repeat the same thing for a clamp on the back side. You will have to move the cradles for each individual bike, and also the jaw that actually clamps onto the bike is adjustable, too, on there. It is a good idea to put the jaw up at about a 45-degree angle and then go ahead and install your bike. Just hold your bike up there with one hand. Take the other hand and tighten the knob, and it clamps into place. Then all you have to do is go back to your wheel cradles and strap them down. All within a few seconds, your bike is strapped down on the bicycle rack and it is ready to go on down the road. All right, and that covers our review of part number TH598 from Thule, the Thule Criterium roof-mounted bike rack.
