An example of sag on a truck's rear axle under a heavy load. The Timbren Suspension Enhancement System levels the vehicle.

When hauling heavy loads in the cargo area or by pulling a trailer, you will often see the rear of the vehicle sag while the front end rises. In these cases, the rear axle is handling not only the weight of the cargo, but more of the vehicle's weight as well. Because less weight is on the front axle, the front tires are making less contact with the road. Overall vehicle handling - traction, steering, and braking - is negatively affected. The resistance from Timbren's Suspension Enhancement System works with the vehicle's factory suspension to keep the vehicle level and improve your driving performance.

Diagram of the Timbren spring installed

The Timbren system has a vehicle-specific bracket that will be bolted onto each frame rail above the rear axle. Hollow rubber springs are bolted to the bottom of the bracket and hang down to where the bottom of the spring sits one inch above the axle. The inch of clearance allows the existing factory suspension to operate normally under light loads and standard terrain, ensuring the smooth, comfortable ride you are used to.

Animation of a standard Timbren rubber spring

Timbren Suspension Enhancement Systems are designed to work progressively. When the hollow rubber springs are compressed, the convoluted design causes them to quickly collapse along the folds. Once the folds are compacted, the stacked barrel shape provides increased resistance, stiffening the suspension and keeping the vehicle level.

Timbren suspension system works to prevent body roll

Each hollow rubber spring works independently to support the driver's or passenger's side of the vehicle. This is helpful when you swerve or make sharp turns. Each spring is activated when it is needed, so body roll is greatly reduced. The independent action also works well when hauling off-center loads.

An example of a trailers swaying

Because the vehicle handles better with the springs, less turbulence will be passed along to the trailer helping to keep the trailer in line. Your driving comfort is further enhanced if the trailer does begin to sway (from a gust of wind or passing of a semi) because the movement from the trailer is not transferred to the vehicle. This also works to make the sway subside quicker.

An empty truck on a bumpy road without Timbren

Another great feature of the rubber construction is that the springs absorb most of the road shock, creating a smoother, more stable ride overall. Wear and tear on the factory suspension is also lessened as the rubber springs work to prevent bottoming out on rough roads.

Compared to the competition:

Timbren's suspension enhancement systems are much easier to install than air springs - no air hoses are needed to be run, no compressors or gauges to hook up, and no manual adjustments necessary. The rubber construction causes Timbren's springs to be more elastic than similar products constructed of micro-cellular urethane. More elasticity allows for a more comfortable ride because the rubber has more travel.

Timbren SES kits with patented AEON hollow rubber springs are designed to provide adequate capacity to solve load carrying and towing problems on all trucks, vans, and SUVs. When installed they ride above the axle so that they do not effect the unloaded ride of the vehicle. With a loaded vehicle or when pulling a heavy trailer the AEON spring comes into contact with the axle to level the vehicle. Cushion road shock, reduce sway, and improve handling. Here is how simple it is to install. Remove the OEM bump stop, attach the AEON rubber spring to the Timbren bracket using the hardware that comes with it. Then using the holes in the frame which were used for the bump stop, attach the SES assembly making sure that there is a 1/ 2 inch to 1 inch space between the axle and the AEON spring. Spacers are included in many kits which may be needed to achieve the space required. What could be easier. SES kits come with a lifetime warranty at a satisfaction guarantee.

The Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System installed fairly easy. The hardest part was removing the old bump stops, when loosened they started to spin and I had to block them up to finish removal. I can't wait to connect to my 5th wheel and see how the truck rides. As with every product I have purchased from eTrailer, delivery was quick and tracking was great.10101

  • Suspension Enhancement Recommendation for a 2006 Ford F-250 King Ranch 4x4 and 5th Wheel Trailer
  • For your 2006 Ford F-250 King Ranch, we have numerous suspension enhancement products that will help with the rear vehicle sag you are experiencing. I recommend the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System, # TFR250SDF, that you have referenced. These springs will not affect the unloaded ride of your truck. When loaded that will prevent sagging, provide more roll stability, and prevent the truck from bottoming out. And, they have more than enough capacity (6,000 pounds) for your trailer. I hav

  • Do Timbren Suspension Enhancement Springs Give a Rough Ride When Under Load on a 2008 Ford F-250
  • When under load, the Timbren springs, # TFR250SDF, actually help absorb road shock rather than just transfer it to the frame where you would feel it. This also extends the life of the factory suspension components. The unloaded ride will not be affected. because this system mounts to the bottom of the frame, it will work with a 5th wheel hitch installed. I have included a link to the instructions and a link to our FAQ article on Timbren products for you.

  • Rear Suspension Enhancement Options for a 2008 Ford F-250 With a Gooseneck Hitch
  • Since the u-bolts from your gooseneck hitch wrap all the way around your vehicle frame, the only rear suspension enhancement system option that we have for your 2008 Ford F-250 is the SuperSprings Custom Suspension Stabilizer and Sway-Control Kit, # SSA15. The u-bolts from your gooseneck hitch will interfere with the top brackets of the Timbren springs and similar suspension enhancement systems. The SuperSprings are easy to install and simply bolt on above your existing factory springs. Thes

  • Suspension Enhancement for a 2010 Ford F-250 Super Duty with Blue Ox Gooseneck Trailer Hitch
  • The Timbren suspension enhancement springs, # TFR250SDF, will mount to the inside of the frame rails on the truck. This could cause interference issues with the Blue Ox gooseneck # DH1203 because of the u-bolts used to attach the hitch to the frame. Since the frame on the truck above the axle is blocked by the u-bolts and hitch, systems like the Timbren will most likely not work. What I recommend is to go with a set of SuperSprings, # SSA15. These springs fit over the leaf spring pack and wi
