Video Transcript for TowDaddy AutoFUSE Automatic Fuse Disconnect Installation - 2013 Chevrolet Equinox

Today on this 2013 Chevrolet Equinox were going to install part number TD703 from Tow Daddy. This is Tow Daddys Autofuse automatic fused disc connect for towed vehicles. This is designed for mini fuses. Our first step is to go ahead and check out the owners manual to see which fuse needs to be removed so it can have the vehicle towed. Once we have that established well go ahead and find the fuse, and the fuse block. Well go ahead and remove the fuse and then well test the socket itself.

To test our socket well go ahead and turn the key to the on position. We need to see which socket has power and which does not. On our vehicle here it looks like the top socket has our power supply. All right, then well double check the bottom, and we dont have anything there. We can start our installation of our harness.

Well go ahead and remove the key and then well take the original fuse and put it in the fuse holder in the black wire. In turn, well go ahead and take that wire and put it into the socket that has the 12 volt power supply. Our purple wire will go to the other socket. That will complete the circuit. Our other two wires, the brown wire and the white wire will have to be connected to the towing harness that we previously installed on the vehicle.

On this vehicle were going to take the two wires and run it along the backside of the dash, behind the console and out to the other side behind the pedals on the drivers side. Were going to use a piece of airline tubing to help pull it through. This can be something else like a piece of wire as well. Next well go ahead and take a moment to attach to the module. Were going to use some double-sided foam tape.

Basically were going to attach it to our module and were going to slide it over the top of the fuse box and put it in place. Well tuck our wires away and continue on. Next well go ahead and pull back the carpeting and locate a spot to drill out a hole to get our wiring to the outside. There s a round indentation on the insulation, and thats a good marker to drill our hole through. Well take a knife, well cut through the insulation to get down to the steel. Well go ahead and work out an opening so we can get to it, and then well go ahead and drill a hole out. Well start with a pilot bit first and then go out to our final hole size. Then well install our grommet. Our final hole size is going to be nine-sixteenths, and well be using a grommet to protect the wires, and thats going to be part number SWC8055. This is going to be a little bit oversized for the wires that will be installed, however it does give us some extra room in case in the future we want to add some more accessories to the vehicle. All right, now well go ahead and take our wires, well go from underneath the vehicle and pull them down. Well make sure we keep them away from anything moving like the suspension components or anything hot like the exhaust. We can see our towing harness is located right here. Well go ahead and split the wires and then cut the two wires in half. This is going to be a color for color match up, white to white and brown to brown. Well strip back the wires, twist them together and then use a bud connector to make our connection to hold them together. Then the other half of our wire will go on the other side with the bud connector. Weve got one done, lets go ahead and do the other one. When everythings connected up well go ahead and wrap some electrical tape to help protect the connection. At this point, everythings hooked up. Lets go ahead and try it out. Apply power and we can check to see if the red LED is lit up. With that, that will finish it for our install of part number TD703 from Tow Daddy on our 2013 Chevrolet Equinox.
