Sidewinder Fifth Wheel Pin Box Coupler with Turret, Hardware, Kingpin by 5th Airborne - ST100-SW01

Sidewinder is the premium fifth-wheel pin box coupler designed specifically for short bed pickups. Its worry-free turning design allows you to make up to 90-degree turns without exiting the truck, throwing a switch or even pushing a button!

Sidewinder's Kingpin locking mechanism moves the pivot position 20 inches rear of the coupler's attachment point. This enables Sidewinder to handle up to a 90-degree turn effortlessly. By moving the pivot rearward, the trailer tracks more closely to the tracks of the truck. This reduces the need for extra-wide turns and allows short bed pickups to even jackknife with no fear of contact between the truck cab and trailer. Sidewinder also offers faster steering wheel response, making backing up easier than ever. The pivoting pin box makes hook up and disconnect possible with the truck and trailer at any angle. And since the towing position of the Sidewinder arm of the pin box is locked in line with the truck, you can make full use of the truck bed space, giving extra storage space for fuel tanks, toolboxes and cargo.

Although the Sidewinder may appear slim, don't be fooled -- it is built to be tough! The C-channel design gives it more stability and strength than a standard pin box. It actually allows for a heavier load capacity. Tested for "real world" conditions, the Sidewinder has cleared rigorous testing by BOSCH automotive proving grounds and exceeds all CSA Standard 16K rating requirements for RVs.

Nimble and quick. Up to 90-degree turning.
It is now possible to turn the short bed truck 90-degrees with no fear of contact between the truck's cab and the coach. All of this is done automatically without exiting the vehicle, no levers to throw or buttons to push! The Sidewinder moves the pivot from the truck bed to the pin box mounting brackets under the nose of the trailer. This way, 20 inches of increased clearance are gained instead of the typical 9 inches which frees up extra room for fuel tanks, toolboxes and cargo. The universal Kingpin locking wedge, which prevents pivot at the fifth-wheel hitch, is reversible and adjustable to work with all popular fifth-wheel hitch brands. (Custom wedges are also available - sold separately.)

First Time Setup: Choose direction of wedge per your hitch style. Attach loosely to bottom of Sidewinder and slide to rear most position. Hook up unit to vehicle. Pull forward to align truck and fifth-wheel in a straight position. Slide wedge forward to king pin until tight in opening. Tighten wedge bolts. Torque to 110 ft. lbs.

Custom Wedges: The included universal wedge works great on the hitches listed above. Custom wedges are also available for B&W, Colibert, Husky/Valley, PullRite, and RBW fifth wheel hitches. Custom wedges are also available for the Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch and Reese Pro Series, Select Series, Select Plus and Signature Series hitches.
