By using two parallel upright bars, the Softride Dura keeps your gear upright while the mast is moved from vertical to the fully lowered position when you want access to the rear of your vehicle. Other brands either don't allow lowering while cargo is loaded or dip cargo close to the ground. The mast releases with the pull of a quick-release pin.
The bicycle support arms feature rubberized cradles and rugged tie-down straps to coddle and secure your bikes. Anti-sway devices grab your bikes at a third point, preventing them from swaying front to back. A safety reflector at the end of each arm enhances nighttime visibility.
The ski-carrier attachment turns your bike rack into a dedicated ski and snowboard carrier. More than a mere add-on to a bike rack, this attachment completely replaces the bike-rack support arms. You simply slide levers on the back of the rack's steel top plate, slip out the bike-rack arms and push in the ski-carrier attachments.
The ski carrier holds cargo at a 45-degree angle, offering advantages over carriers that hold skis vertically. Your skis are less likely to slide down, and they won't block your rearview sightline or stick out past the sides of your vehicle, thus avoiding problems in parking garages or anywhere else clearances could be a problem. The top jaws of the carrier can be adjusted for tightness with a dial to best fit your skis or snowboards. The jaws also lock to deter theft (2 keys included). Both top jaws and lower supports include rubber padding to prevent your gear from sliding and getting scratched.
You can also remove attachments to lighten the rack for installation or slip attachments into the available wall-mount storage station (SR22751; sold separately) to store your gear out of the way. Two hitch-pin holes in the 2" shank help to fine-tune the distance between the rack and vehicle. Included adapter bolts to the 2" shank to fit 1-1/4" receivers.

Alright, today we are going to show you Softride part number SR24232, a ski rack carrier. This part is a perfect companion to Softrides bicycle rack. In this demonstration we are going to be using Softrides Dura rack. As you can see here we have a stock Dura rack installed on our vehicle. And what we are going to do is convert it out to a ski rack. It is very simple. If you have one of these, you know that all you have to do is push this button back here and the arms come right out. And this ski rack simply goes right back into place. That was the lower arm. Now we will install the upper arm. In a matter of seconds we have already converted to a ski rack. 0:45
We will cover some of the features of this ski rack. At the lower half, you can see we have this generous padding here that allows you to wedge your skies inside of here to hold them in place. These do rotate so you do not have to worry about these rubbing or making marks on your skies as you install them. It is a pretty neat little detail. As you can tell on the upper arm already, we have a lock to keep your skies secure. Turn the key and it pops open. As you can see it has three little indentions on this rod here for the lock. That way, you can fine tune it, depending on the thickness of your equipment. You do not have to go all the way down. You have a little bit of leeway. And the upper arm itself has generous padding on it. It is all rubber and it is hallow on the inside as you can see. So that way, when you push down on it it can give and still have plenty of grip on your skies. 1:34
Alright, lets go ahead and load up some skies and some poles. Alright and put our poles in. Go ahead and center them up and push our top arm back into place. Push in our lock, or our rod that goes into our lock. As you can see here we have plenty of resistance with the rubber. This equipment is definitely not going to be moving around in here. Now, if it is too tight to clamp down, the actual rod here has an adjustment where you can actually unscrew it to make minor adjustments on it. Sometimes you need just a little but to make it just a little bit easier to latch together. The last detail of this is the capacity of the ski rack itself. This rack is designed to carry a maximum of five pairs of skies or four snowboards and a pair of skies. Within a couple of minutes we have converted our Dura bicycle rack to a ski rack. And we did that using part number SR24232 from Softride. 3:03

Nice Bike Rack! I just bought a Chevy Equinox which has a rear hatch that lifts straight up. I needed a bike rack that would clear the hatch. This rack works perfectly and is easy to lift down and back up. Assembly was easy as well. I have not used the ski attachment yet but it looks like it will work nicely. etrailer.com was great and shipping was fast. One of the anti-sway cradles was broke in shipping, etrailer sent a replacement out right away. Great service!5573
