- How to Determine Hub and Spindle Size
- The spindle dimensions are as follows: A is the mounting dimension, B is the seal dimension, C is the inner bearing surface, D is the outer bearing surface and E is the diameter of the threaded portion of the spindle for spindle nut selection.
Say you need a spindle and hub for a wheel with 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern and an axle that is 3500 lbs. For a single axle trailer you can use two of either the item # R20484, if your axle is round or item # SP20484 if your axle is square. Then you

- Welding Redline Spindles # R40484 and # R50642 for Utility Trailer with 2-3/8 inch O.D. Pipe
- You have a 2-3/8 inch O.D. pipe so you might want to look at Redline Spindle 2 inch x 4 inch Round Stub, # R40484, which has a 2 inch O.D. at the weld point and has a 1750 lb. capacity, so two spindles will give that axle 3500 lb capacity or Redline Spindle 2-1/4 inch RD x 6 inch STUB, # R50642, which has a 2.25 inch O.D. at the weld point and has a 2500 lb. capacity for a total capacity of 5000 lbs. The total capacities of the spindles are only valid if installed correctly and the axles are not

- Does a Spindle with Scarring are Complete Bearing Failure Need to be Replaced
- What concerns me about this situation is the scarring on the spindle. Depending on how deep and how bad the scarring is, a new set of bearings and a new hub/drum assembly might experience the same problem down the road. This would mean that the spindle would need to be replaced also. Otherwise, you may have to frequently replace parts. It would be best in this situation to eliminate the possibility of future similar occurrences before they have a chance to cause damage. Any visible scarring or h

- How to Determine the Correct Replacement Hubs for a Trailer with a 3,500 Pound Axle
- There are a couple of things you can look at to determine the correct replacement hubs. The best way is to retrieve the inner and outer bearing numbers that are stamped into the bearings. I suspect that you will have the Trailer Hub Assembly, # 84545UC1-EZ, which uses L68149 Inner/L44649 Outer bearings and E-Z lube axles.
Or, for a hub and drum, # 84546UC3-EZ, which is the same but has the hub and drum for drum brakes. But, the best way to know is to check your bearing numbers.

- Determining Replacement Hubs for EZ Lube Spindles
- To determine the correct replacement hub for your trailer, you will need to pull off your existing hubs to determine the bearing numbers.
The difference between the EZ lube hub and drums and the non EZ lube hub and drums is the grease cap and seal. The EZ lube ones like the # 84546UC3-EZ have a removable rubber seal on the cap that allows you to access the grease fitting of the EZ-lube spindles and have a double lip seal.
For an EZ lube hub, with a 5 on 5 bolt pattern, you will need the EZ
