Swagman has been in business for about 20 years. We actually pioneered the hitch mounted bike rack industry. The company was started by a couple, their names were Jim and Jane Morris. Jim was in Australia and found the idea, and brought it back to North America. So in that time, the first 10 years, we were basically pioneering the whole hitch mounted idea of carrying a bike on the back of a vehicle. We always believed in it because first, it is more cost effective. It is cheaper to install a hitch and a bike rack then it is to do a full roof mount where you have to put load bars on and then buy four separate racks. :38

The other thing we like about it is it is very easy to load, especially we are finding now with baby boomers they do not have the hassle of putting their bikes up on the roof of the vehicle or using strap racks and that sort of thing. Another nice thing about it is it protects bot the car, because the bike rack is a distance from the car, and it also protects the bike, the bike is not banging into the car so it is good for both. We are a small company, we are made of cyclists. We have a number of people on staff that have competed in Iron Man and bike races and stuff , so we use the product on a daily basis. There a a lot of little details that you might not spot instantly for example, we use a thicker powder coating than most bike rack companies do. We put a teflon additive into it so road grime will not stick to the bike. There are a bunch of other little details so if our rack falls down, there is a little stop to keep it from crashing all the way to the ground. We have little anti-wobble movement devices built into our racks so there is no rattle or play or movement. So there is a number of those things that we do. 1:41

We are a comprehensive rack company so, although hitch is our specialty, which we do more products in then most companies, so we make bike racks for example that are hitch mounted that have the ability to tow behind. We make RV bike racks that have the ability to attach to a RV bumper. A bunch of different ones that have the ability to attach to a spare tire. We also still of course make roof top bike racks. We make trunk racks or strap racks that will attach whether you have load bars on top or a hitch. We are also continuously designing new products. I am not sure if you noticed but bike styles and shapes have changed dramatically over the last few years. As a result it has caused some problems for actually racking a bike on a bike rack, so we have come out with a new line, and again we are sort of the innovators and pioneers of platform style we call it, meaning it is going to carry the bikes from the wheels up. 2:33

We try to build stuff with a simple design because simple always means strong. Make life a little easier for the outdoor enthusiast. So we try to make it easy for that guy to get to the trails to ride his bike or to the ski hill to bring his skis. We think of ourselves as leaders in quality, innovation, and mostly overall product value. And we are looking forward to the future.

I recently purchased the RV Bumper 2 bike Rack from Etrailer .com. I received my purchase in a timely fashion and found the item to be well made and easy to install on the back of my View Finder travel trailer. I used it for the first time this past week to transport my wife's and my own mountain bike on our scheduled getaway to Astoria. It functioned flawlessly. The bikes were easy to load and unload and were secure during transport. I strongly recommend this product. 16826

Does not fit 2 bikes of different size. does not have needed structure for securing the bikes. Bikes would hit the back of the trailer causing damage to trailer or bikes.15295

  • How Easy is it To Mount and Remove the RV Bumper 2 Bike Rack #S80605
  • For the average individual, I would say that it is fairly easy to remove the RV Bumper 2 Bike Rack, # S80605. You would be removing 8 bolts total on the three piece rack. The two larger sections probably make up the bulk of the weight. The entire unit only weighs about 24 pounds. So with the right tools and about 5 minutes tops, you could have the rack off the bumper and placed out of the way. It would probably take longer to put the rack on the bumper unless you had a helper. But again, you

  • There are hitches available for trailers not equipped with one. We have specialty hitches that are designed to fit on a wide variety of frame widths. Measure the distance between the frame rails at the rear of your trailer to see which hitch will fit. The hitch with widest range we carry is the Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver, # 13703. It will fit frames between 22 and 72 inches wide. I have included a link to the installation details. You might also be able to put a front mount hitch

  • Will a Spare Tire on my 5th Wheel RV Prevent me from Using the Swamgan RV Bumper Bike Rack
  • Whether or not the Swagman RV Bumper 2 bike rack will clear the spare is all dependent on where the spare is located, how you install the rack, and how you load the bikes. We have not heard from any customers that could not find a way to load the bikes in a fashion that would clear the spare. You could also use the Swagman part # S80500 that is a hanging rack that mounts around the spare tire. With the rack mounted to the tire, you will not have to worry about positioning the bikes around it.

  • Bike Rack and Mounting Options and Recommendations for a 1989 Winnebago Lesharo
  • The bumper mount racks, like the RV Bumper 2 Bike Rack, # S80605, require a 4 to 4-1/2 inch square, welded steel bumper. If your Winnebago does not have this size and type of bumper, the best solution is to add a trailer hitch and hitch mount rack. If it does have this style bumper, make sure you check the owners manual for the capacity of the bumper to be sure it can support a rack and bike. If you need to use a trailer hitch, I recommend a frame mount hitch for more stability and weight cap

  • bike rack, bumper mounted
  • Swagman recommends bungee cords or ropes be used to attach the bikes to the upright bar on the rack. I would also recommend securing the wheels to the bottom portion of the rack. This rack is meant to be used with bikes of many different sizes and configurations, securing the bikes to the rack is going to depend on the size and frame configuration of the bike. Determining the best way of securing the bike to the rack is left to the user.

  • The RV bumper bike rack # S80605 would be a great choice for your tent trailer, because it offers an easy install and will accept many different styles of bikes. As long as your spare tire does not extend past the face of the rear bumper on the trailer you should have no problems mounting the carrier and installing your bikes. This bike rack is made for continuous welded steel square bumpers at least 4 inches and no more than 4-1/2 inches wide. The only thing you should note is that the 2

  • Will This Bike Rack Work with My Tandem Bicycle on RV Motor Home Bumper
  • If your RV or Motorhome bumper is wider than the tandem bicycle then the Swagman RV Bumper 2 Bike Rack, part # S80605, will work. If you do not already have something to secure your bikes to part # S80605, then you may need the 10 foot Cable Lock, part # CAB-10. You will need to check with the RV manufacturer to see how much weight the bumper is rated to hold. You will need to calculate the weight of the bike rack plus the weight of the tandem bicycle. Tandem bicycles tend to be heavy

  • If you used the RV Bumper 2 Bike Rack, part # S80605, there is a chance that your tail lights would shine through the spokes of the wheel allowing them to be visible, and therefore safe and legal. What I would recommend you do, is hitch up your trailer to your towing vehicle and have a friend hold a bike with the bottom of the wheels as high as the top of your bumper to simulate where the bike would be if you had this rack mounted with bikes on it. Next, have another friend activate your brak
