Wheel wells large enough to accommodate just about any kind, ratcheting hooks to accommodate almost any frame style, folding mechanisms to make storage and parking easy all make this rack an innovative and satisfying design.
This cross country model offers convenience and reliability for your traveling needs. With a four-bike capacity, it accommodates most frame sizes using wheel hoops and bike hooks. Constructed with soft-frame coating to protect the bike's finish, the bike hooks securely hold the bike in the wheel hoop cradles. The hooks smoothly slide up and down by using an easily-adjustable push button ratcheting system. The hassle of removing wheels is eliminated with wheel hoops that accommodate wheels up to 2-1/2" wide and adjust to fit different frame lengths. To decrease in size, the upright bars with bike hooks fold down when not in use. A powder-coated finish protects it from corrosion from the elements. This rack fits 2" x 2" trailer hitches.
Features:
Specs:

When in use, the bike rack support bar is at a slight incline to improve ground clearance.

Bike hooks slide easily down the ratcheting system and click securely in place. The push buttons allow the hooks to slide up the ratcheting system to allow for bike removal.

The wheel hoops accommodate wheels up to 2-1/2" wide, and turning knobs are used to adjust the distance between hoops to fit bikes of varying lengths. Rubber straps secure the wheels to the wheel hoops.

Today we are going to show you part number S64665 from Swagman, their four bike wheel mount carrier that is also folding. We will cover some of the nice points about this bicycle rack. First we will cover the wheel mounts themselves. They are pretty neat. What is nice about these is that they are fully adjustable on the rack itself. You just loosen this knob and you can adjust up to any size bike. Also the wheel mounts have these Velcro straps that go around and keeps the wheel tide to the rack just in case something comes loose. The next feature is, what is nice about this post here, it actually can be folded down and out of the way when you are storing it. It is pretty simple. You just pull this pin, lay it down and go ahead and re-install the pin. That way when it is in its fold up position it will not rattle around. We will go on and move on to the top of this post here to the hooks. This is really nice. First off they are ratcheting style, so you do not have to worry about tightening or loosening them every time, you can just push them into place and they will stay locked. The hooks themselves have heavy padding on them so they will not scratch your bike frames or anything like that. We will go ahead and install the bike rack. It slides into a two inch receiver only.
What is also nice about the shank here is it has a built in anti-rattle device. Basically it is a threaded bolt that goes in and you can put a safety pin on the other side. Tighten this down and it basically makes the bicycle rack one with the hitch. This uses a 15/16 socket or wrench to tighten it down. Then you can install your safety pin and clip on the other side. We will go ahead and demonstrate the folding ability of this rack. It is pretty neat. We will have to take the two posts and fold them down flat, then we can fold the rack up against the truck. Next, to fold it up, we have to pull this pin out, pull this clip, and you just lift it up and re-install the pin. To install some bikes, first off we need to loosen the posts so we can put them into the up position. Then it would probably be a good idea to go ahead and just take off these cradles. Next we need to take off our straps and get them ready. Now, you also have to make adjustments to the wheel holders too just in case because all bikes are a little bit different. You go ahead and loosen it, make sure it fits securely inside and snug it back down. Then bring up your post and then do not forget to put your pin back in and hold everything stable. Once you have everything stable, especially on the front suspension bikes, you can push down on it a little bit to make sure you have plenty of tension on it. Now you can put your wheel straps on and repeat for the back side too. We will do the same thing for the next bike, making adjustments as we need. We will go ahead and load our the third and fourth bikes up just like the first. There you have it for part number S64665, from Swagman, the four bike wheel mount carrier that is also tilting.

Great product.....especially for the money. I used to have a Yakima rack that would hang the bikes from their cross bar. For women's and children's bikes, it was a nightmare! This rack makes it very easy to load any bike. Plus, it does not scratch the paint. Overall, this is a very nice, easy to use, high quality product. Etrailer was also great to buy from - they upgraded my shipping at no charge and I had the rack within 3 business days. Thanks for a great shopping experience!6528

Sturdy rack. Assembly pretty straightforward. Despite her handiness, my wife was able to mount the rack without assistance. Good value, for this level of function. A well-engineered device.17224

Thank you etrailer for upgrading us to priority shipping for no extra charge. Took a little time to put the bike rack together but it is a great bike rack for the price. So easy to just put the bikes on and go.17177

Very nice rack As the other reviewers have stated, it's a very sturdy rack that holds the bikes securely. It took about 30 minutes to assemble, lining up the masts so you can insert the crossbars was a little tricky, and you have to pivot the masts to get the mounting bolts set, but nothing too difficult. Mounting the bikes was easier than I expected based on the reviews. They go right on with basic adjustments to account for bike size. The ratcheting hooks are are not difficult to release if you push down on the hook while releasing (thanks to another reviewer for that tip). The rack doesn't rattle or sway on our SUV, it's perfectly silent. Looking forward to many, many riding trips with this rack. 4029

Fits recumbent bikes too! Needed to haul 4 bikes but did not want to use a combination of racks and roof mounts. With my wife's recumbent bike it made finding a rack a challenge. This rack is perfect for hauling a recumbent, a hybrid, or a childrens bike. The adjustable trays accomodate a wide range of wheelbases and work great! Saved me serveral hundred dollars over a roof rack and trailer hitch combination. Easy on and off, and the rack folds up out of the way when the bikes are off it. Definately worth every penny.3325

Nicely constructed platform rack that allows for adequate adjustments to fit various bicycles. Unit weighs in around 60 lbs. Only disappointment for me with this purchase is that I am going to have to buy an extender for my Hidden Hitch. I can't fold this rack into the upright position on my 2011 Mazda CX-9 Grand Touring without it - it would hit my rear bumper. Oh well...looks like I'll be spending some more money at etrailer.com. They are a top-notch company to deal with!23206

This is a great hitch. The installation was easy and the unit fits nicely on the back of the vehicle. I would recommend it for anyone wanting to carry more than two bikes. It is a bit heavy. The piece that fits into the reciever on the hitch is a bit short.12510

Great option for the money Bike rack was easy to Assemble and install on trailer hitch. Loading bikes (2) was simple enough.I did scratch Paint on car,so will keep some touch up paint on hand. There are 2 allen screws holding rack to tow bar (hitch tounge). These could be easily removed so a cable lock or chain needed to secure rack to the auto to prevent theft.4' is sufficiant. Rack is sturdy enough and remains stationary while towing. Plastic knobs for tightening wheel holders are fragile and may not last as long as the rack. Rubber wheel straps also may break in time. Those issues can be worked around later if in fact they do occur.Overall I expect to get good use from this device for several years and is a good starter model.3404

Best rack for the money This rack does what it's designed for. It will hold almost any four bikes that are made, in any combination - Downhill, ten speed, kids, cruisers, etc. And there's no need to remove wheels!2513

Excellent Easy Rock Solid Rack Long story short. Purchsed this rack after a very bad experience with the hanging rack style. Hanging racks are impossible. This rack is WHAT A RACK SHOULD BE!!! You can stagger the bikes left to right. The bikes don;t hit each other ever. You just set the wheel saddles once and you are good from here on it. Simply set you bike down in the rack. Swing the bar up and push the well padded hook down (even works on girls bikes). Love the solid lock ratchet hooks. The build quality of this rack is exceptional. The rack is rock solid ulike my first rack. Super easy to use. If you have had it with trying to hang your bikes. Then this solid baby is for you. Best I have seen. My compliments to Swagman.2166

I purchased this bike rack after looking on-line and reading the reviews. First of all, etrailer did an outstanding job in keeping me posted once I ordered it and providing the information I needed to track it. It arrived within their shipping window, which was great as we needed it for an upcoming trip. As other reviewers mentioned - it takes a few minutes to determine the best configuration for the 4 bikes - but really no more than that. For the most part, installation was super easy. The only part of the installation that was a bit more frustrating was bolting on the two ratcheted uprights. There must be a trick to lining up the bolts to go through the holes and attaching the nuts - but I didn't figure it out. If anyone out there has a trick to that step - I'm sure others would appreciate it! Without that step, it probably took less than 10 minutes for the rest of the entire assembly. I also ordered the lockable hitch pin and the cable lock - I strongly recommend both - plus they're great products, too! The rack is pretty heavy, not unexpectedly heavy for a 4-bike rack, so having an extra hand to mount it in the car's receiver was helpful. Overall a great ordering process, a fairly easy assembly, and a great product.16852

Great product, well thought out, holds odd shaped mountain bikes securely in wheel mounts, security cable works well. Overall a great bike rack for the money. Only downside is the weight of the rack, which is a result of its heavy duty design. 12478

Nice Rack! Works very well at carrying different sizes and types of bikes at the same time. It is heavy, but the ability to infinitely adjust the rack is well worth the extra weight.10895

This is one rock solid rack. Easy to assemble with the hint from another reviewer to assemble on the hitch. First time loading was a bit of a puzzle because you have to figure out the best way your bikes will fit. There's plenty of adjustability, and it works great with the two "step through" ladies bikes we have with the steep-angled top tubes. Now that I've got it all adjusted, it's less than five minutes on and off for the four bikes. When folded up it just clears the bumper of our XC90. On two 50 mile round trips with the four bikes there was no concerns at all. I'm very satisfied with the rack, and at the price, I think it's a great value.10753

Getting the 4 bikes on at first was like a puzzle, but once you get them in order, it becomes easy. A little heavy, but I believe it is the lightest 4 bike carrier on the market and also the cheapest. Very sturdy and not cheaply built. I am glad I chose this one.10100

It took about 20 minutes to assemble the rack by myself. Used it this weekend to haul 4 mountain bike about 150 miles. Our old rack used to let the bikes rub and bang together when the road was choppy. No worries with this rack. Nothing can move.9231

Great quality, awesome price I ordered this on etrailer Feb 1st, got the delivery on Feb 8th. Perfect packing. The product was very easy to assemble. There were finally 4 small screws that I was not clear what to do with. Called etrailer and they clearly told me where the screws go. The rack is built strong, really good quality. I was actually surprised to see such great quality at less than half the price of a Thule or Yakima. Overall the product is easy to use. Yes it has some quirks like when you fold the center rachet arm, the cotter pin to hold it in place is sometimes hard to push in. Not a big deal but something that swagman can improve on. Also one other key point is the total dimension of this rack. I have a Honda Odyssey and with 4 bikes mounted on the rack, it takes about 3-3.5 feet of space at the back (juts out). A thule T2 or Yakima hold up for 4 bikes will be close to 5.6-6 feet. The swagman has a great advantage in reducing vehicle sway and drag. As with anything this comes with a drawback that you need to play around and figure out the best positions for the bikes. Again not a big deal, one time job of 10 mins. Overall I am very happy with the bike rack and even more happy with etrailer. I will be coming to etrailer for all my future rack, hitch needs.2706

We are a family of 4 with bikes that have non-traditional frames and so they don't work well on the hanging type racks. I wanted a platform type rack and when I looked around I found name brand racks and did not want to spend the $600 to $800. I found this very affordable rack at etrailer and got it delivered in time for our trip to Yosemite. The rack assembled easily. I like the way you can bolt it to the hitch to make it more secure. The bikes load very easy and are very secure. An added surprise was the lockable hitch pin and a cable to lock the bikes. I did not know they were included. 21133

I bought this to carry adult bikes and children's bikes, which it will do with some improvising, but if I had a choice I would have probably seen if perhaps there was another carrier better suited for the job. I wouldn't recommend this carrier for bikes under 20in, and even my sons 20in bmx bikes tires will not fit in the wheel holders. Don't get me wrong here, this is a fairly clever design that is obviously better suited to adult sized bikes. Even held my wife's bike well enough. As for the quality, I like the ratcheting hold downs, but I do see the potential for lots of paint being chipped away and rust forming. The rest of it seems like it will handle its job well enough, but I wouldn't recommend using the thing like a jungle gym either. Also, watch that the wheel holders are tight periodically as mine have loosened on their own due to temp changes or vibration I guess. Overall, it does what it is suppose to do, just not what I wanted it to do. In two years it should be fine (my daughter will be on a bigger bike by then or at least I hope she will be). 12682

Awesome Rack This rack is great. I moved from a Allen hanging rack to this and the difference is night and day. I dont drive watching the rear-view mirror the entire time hoping my bikes dont fall off. Installed on a Jeep Liberty - NOTE, this rack fits a Liberty with Spare Tire installed but you cannot fold it up or mount a bike on the spot closest to the car. I just removed my spare tire for the season and put is in the back of the Liberty and without it there this rack is awesome.3136

Awesome well built product This is my first bike rack. I did a lot of research before I bought this one. I am really pleased with the rack for the price. There are two things I would like to see improved in this rack. One there needs to be a way to lower the rack the other way around with the bikes on to be able to open rear hatches on vans and SUV's. Its not a big deal but its just a nice feature. The other issue is with the ball pin to lock the vertical arms. It can be made a bit more user friendly. I actually see that this has been improved in the next version of this rack at Swagman's website. Overall I am very happy with this rack and with etrailer. They are prompt and easy retailer to work with. 2867

So far so good We purchased this rack since we have two kids' and 2 adults' bikes. The rack, although heavy, was straightforward to assemble (on trailer hitch worked best). With some sliding adjustments and planning, all bikes fit securely and test rides with bikes around town indicate the rack to be stable. Empty and folded up against our Jeep made it pretty compact. A longer road trip will give it a more substantive test. 2790

Nice Rack!!! great value too. This rack does what it's supposed to do, for less than half the price of the big named brands. Maybe not as well engineered, but I'm stoked with the product. I hauled my full suspension stumpy, one rigid mtb, and two heavy steel cruiser's on a 9 hour trip with no problems at all. Bikes will not fall off of this thing!1326

Etrailer was great to work with. the lock for the cable was missing in my package. I emailed them to let them know and they rushed out a replacement lock immediately. GREAT SERVICE. The unit itself went together pretty easy. Fits my kids bikes no problem. Leaving for 2000 mile road trip next week so will update after that but I expect no problems. IMO This is hands down the best 4 bike carrier on the market for the ability to fit all different kinds of bikes.30376

Everything was a promised and described. Fairly straight forward installation and build for the mechanically unchallenged. Product works fine for adult full suspension bike and kids/girls mountain bikes. The "bike" locking mechanism is a nice touch and we look forward to using the rack and our bikes all winter and spring in CA. 27988
