Were going to do a demo of the Rhino Kayak Carrier, part number S400. This will be in conjunction with the Rhino Rack Roof System Kit, part number S400-FK1. When purchasing this kit together, part number will be S400-1. With our load bars already set up on the vehicle, well need to remove the center rubber stripping in the center of our load bar. Alright, to remove the rubber, well go ahead and unlock the endcap and remove it first, then we can simply peel it out of the T bolt. Well go ahead and do this for both the front and rear load bar setup.
Now with the rubber stripping out of the way, we can go ahead and take the mounting hardware and install it in the C channel of your Rhino Rack Aero or Sports crossbars. This hardware is also compatible with the Thule Rapid Aero, Thule Aeroblade, and Roller crossbars. For our setup, well be using this T bolt and spacer. The T bolt will slide in the T area of the crossbar and sit on top, then we can take the saddle, open it up, and well secure it using the holes inside. There are two positions that youll set up and sit on the crossbar.
Depending on whether youre carrying your canoe, kayak, or sailboard haul, will depend on which angle you need to say yours at. For now, well be using the back mounting point. Next, were going to add a large flat washer, a small lock washer, and a wing nut. Well tighten it down just enough to secure our hardware until we get into position, then well fully tighten it down. Simply have it angled in.
This will be for the passengers side. Well go ahead and turn it to the opposite direction to the do the drivers side. Alright, now that weve got our rear load bar set up, well go ahead and repeat the same process for our front load bar. Now, with all four saddles mounted on the crossbar, well go ahead and reinstall our endcaps. Well be setting our kayak into position then adjusting our saddles accordingly to hold our kayak in place.
One of the great features about this kayak carrier is the rubber pads on top of the carrier. This will ensure to help hold the carrier in place without scratching it or causing damage. Alright, now were ready to go ahead and load up our kayak. Now with our kayak up on top the roof sitting on our kayak carrier, well go ahead and make the necessary adjustment then take the kayak back off and tighten down the kayak carrier. Now that weve got our saddles in position and our kayak back off the vehicle, lets go ahead and secure them to the crossbars completely. Keep in mind, once you get the correct position, it wont be necessary to put your kayak on and off to get the correct positioning. Now, weve got our saddles in position. Weve got them completely tightened down. Were ready to go ahead and put our kayak back up on the roof and secure it with the cam buckles. The cam buckles are part of our install kit. Well go ahead and feed the open end underneath our crossbar and then take both the open ends and feed it over top of the kayak. And we'll go to the other side. Feed it under the crossbar again and sync down. Alright, when syncing or locking down your cam buckle, youll first need to take your open end and feed it from underneath towards the top so that your cam buckle will operate correctly. Now, weve got the rear of our kayaks secured to our carriers and crossbar. Well go ahead and tie up the excess from our cam buckle strap and well repeat the same process across the front crossbar and carrier. Now that weve got our kayak secured to our carrier and crossbars, were ready to hit the road. This kayak carrier comes with a limited lifetime warranty. And that does it for the Rhino Rack Saddle Style Kayak Carrier for our Rhino Rack Aero and Sports crossbar kit, part number S400-1.
