- Using a Backing Plate for D-Ring Placement on a Trailer
- The backing plate BP05 will definitely make for a stronger tie down point, especially if you are not able to bolt the tie down ring to the trailer frame. If you can mount the ring through the frame at all four points, then you would not need a backing plate for installation. If you use washers and do not mount through the frame of the trailer, you must be aware that the installation will not handle as large a load, due to the reduced mounting surface.

- I spoke with my contact at CR Brophy and the Trailer D-Ring Tie Down, Recessed 5K, item # RR05, is Zinc plated to resist rust and corrosion. I also inquired about the backing plate, item # BP05, for the D-Ring tie downs and it is also Zinc plated.

- What are the Dimensions of the Mounting Holes on the Brophy Trailer D-Ring Tie Down
- I went out into our warehouse and pulled a Trailer D-Ring Tie Down # RR05 to measure the mounting holes on center and found them to be 3 inches by 3-1/4 inches like the picture suggests.
