Add 14 cubic feet of exterior storage - and a touch of style - to your vehicle's roof rack with this low-profile Rhino-Rack cargo box. The cargo box - featuring a high-gloss black finish - has enough space for skis, snowboards, golf clubs and all your other outdoor equipment. Or you can just load it up with luggage for that weekend adventure.

This cargo carrier installs in just 5 minutes with Rhino-Rack's Master-Fit system. The Master-Fit clamps slide along tracks inside the box to accommodate your vehicle's crossbar spread.

The jaws tighten onto your crossbars with hand knobs and lock in place with large, built-in buttons. The system is designed to work with most roof-rack configurations.
To ensure the security of your gear, the cargo box has two keyed-alike locks - one per side - built into the lid. Each key lock controls three interior locking points. These interior locking points securely latch the lid to the lower half of the box.

The cargo box lid opens from either the driver's side or passenger's side for maximum accessibility and convenience.
The interior of the cargo box includes four anchor points so you can tie down your gear with the included luggage straps. The anchor points are attached to metal reinforcement rails that run along the underside of the box, adding strength and stability to the anchor points and the box.

Today we're going to review the Rhino Rack Master Fit Rooftop Cargo Box, part number RMFZ65. This rooftop cargo box has a 14 cubic foot capacity. The box is designed to fit round, square, aero, or elliptical shape bars as well as most factory crossbars. It has a dual side access lid meaning you can open the box from either the driver's side or the passenger's side of the vehicle. Rhino Rack has also put in a keyword tension feature on their lock system. When we go to unlock our box and open it up we can't remove the key, this is to help prevent locking the keys inside the box.
Inside are two nylon luggage straps that you can use to secure your gear. It's designed to fit crossbar spreads between 24-1/4 inches all the way up to 36-1/2 inches, so you want to make sure that your particular roof rack crossbars couldn't fit within this range. It's manufactured in the USA and is covered by a five-year limited warranty. To open the box we'll insert our key, unlock the lock, and pull the lid open. There are three hinges inside the box on either side.
They not only allow the box lid to open but they are also the securing points when you close and lock the lid. At the nose on the tail of the box are two larger spring assisted hinges to help make opening the lid easy. This is one of our two luggage straps. Inside at the front and the rear you'll find a couple of anchor points that we'll use to attach our luggage straps. We'll take our strap, feed it through our first anchor point and bring the strap all the way around, feed it through the cam buckle.
When we need to tighten down our cargo we'll just grab the end of our strap and pull it through the buckle. To release press down the buckle and the strap come back out. Inside you'll notice that there are four mounting clamps. These clamps aren't fixed to the box, it will make the installation on your vehicle a little bit easier. You can just set the box up on top of the roof rack, take your clamp, push it through the slot over your crossbar and tighten it up.
You'll use the large gray hand knob to open or close the clamps. As you rotate it clockwise the clamps close, counter clockwise they open up. Once you have the clamp tight, come up to the red toggle push it down and the knob is locked so you can't loosen or tighten the clamp system. Now we'll go ahead and put it up on the roof of our vehicle and show you how the system works. When we place the roof box up on our roof rack to position it we want to make sure that it's centered from left to right, and we also want to make sure that the slots for the clamps are situated over our crossbars so that we can get the clamps through and around our bars. Again, we'll unlock our box and open the lid. Now we'll take our clamp, push it through the tracks on top of our crossbar. Make sure the clamp is centered over the bar and then we'll begin to tighten it down. Once we have the clamp tightened, we'll close the latch and lock out the knob. We'll repeat the same procedure for the other four clamps. Now we're ready to load up our box and hit the road. And that does it for our review of the Rhino Rack Master Fit Rooftop Cargo Box, part number RMFZ65.
