Roadmaster Accessories and Parts - RM-070

Make up for the height difference between your RV and towing system with RoadMaster's Hi-Low Drop. Provides either a 4" drop or a 4" rise for high or low ground clearance.

Most tow systems require some sort of hitch accessory to either raise or lower the tow bar to an appropriate level. The "Safe Zone" for a motor-home-mounted tow bar ranges from 3" above level to 4" below. Car-mounted models must be absolutely level. RoadMaster's High-Low Drops will provide you with the necessary drop; simply flip the accessory over to achieve desired rise.

I bought this after reading the other customer reviews. I have a Jeep Wrangler 4DR Unlimited and a Yakima hitch mount bike rack. Without this drop extension I could not open the tailgate, with this drop, the rack is able to fully function. I was suprised at the weight and heavy duty construction of this drop. I also bought the reciever lock silent hitch pin and the Quiet Hitch anti-rattle ring. I'm very pleased with this set up and highly recommend it.19731

I bought this in order to extend and lower a Thule T2 bike rack away from the spare tire on the back of a Jeep Wrangler. The stock hitch mount location left the bike rack in the way of the spare tire when trying to fold the rack into the up position - and when lowering the rack to gain access to the rear of the vehicle. This hitch extension gave me the perfect amount of clearance to implement all of the rack's operating positions. It's extremely well-made and super-duty. It's probably overkill for what I'm using it for, but I wanted the peace of mind that my rack and bikes were riding extra safely. I was a bit worried that lowering the hitch would give me ground clearance issues, but those fears were unfounded. I still have plenty of room under there, and I can cross steep rail crossings without anything dragging. For added peace of mind, I also ordered the anti-rattle lock (part #63232) and the quiet hitch (part # RM-061). The anti-rattle lock keeps this extension from being stolen. It also eliminates any side to side movement the extension has in the hitch. The anti-rattle lock cuts down on almost all movement of the extension in the hitch; however, there was still a small amount of up and down movement. With the combination of the lock and the quiet hitch, the connection feels like it's welded on. If I was strong enough, I could lift the entire Jeep off the ground with this thing! I'm really satisfied with the setup.10531

  • I think we can help you out here. We have several different adjustable ball mounts and ball mounts with with a fixed drop. If you are going to tow only one particular trailer, a fixed ballmount would probably be your best bet. To determine the rise/drop needed, measure from the top of the receiver to the ground. Then, with the trailer level, measure from the bottom of the coupler to the ground. The difference between these two measurements is the rise or drop you will need. The adjustable b

  • 4 Inch High-Low Drop used with Cargo Carrier
  • I would not use part # RM-070 with your cargo carrier. It is meant for use with a towbar while towing a vehicle on all 4 wheels and does not have a weight capacity suitable for cargo carriers. The part that would work for your application is part # V75090. It has a tongue capacity of 500 pounds, meaning that the total weight of your cargo carrier and cargo cannot exceed 500 lbs. It will provide 6 inches of rise to get your carrier away from the exhaust.

  • You are correct. The RoadMaster 4 Inch Hi-Lo Drop, part # RM-070 is meant for use with a tow bar used for towing a vehicle. It is meant to tow a rolling load, not a situation where more than 100 lbs of downward force is applied to it.
