Ring slips over the hitch accessory shank. Tightening the bolt removes any free play between the shank of the hitch accessory and the trailer hitch.

Today we are going to review the quiet hitch anti-rattling ring from Roadmaster, part number RM-061. This anti-rattle ring works with class III 2 inch receiver hitches and bolts on in seconds. It will help eliminate the loud rattling noises that you get from the hitch connection. To install the unit, all we need to do is take the anti-rattle ring. And you will notice at the bottom we have a jam nut and a regular tightening nut on it. We can go ahead and remove the jam nuts for the time being. 0:26
And just go ahead and release the tightening nuts all of the way to the bottom of the thread. We can then take it and slide it over our hitch accessory that we are going to be using inside the trailer hitch. For this purpose we are just going to be using a regular ball mount. Slide that in there and go ahead and line up our pin and clip. And what we will want to do is take the outer ring here and we are actually going to seat it over the collar of the hitch itself. And the bottom tumbler here will tighten on to the bottom of the ball mount. 1:09
With that tightened down, it will pull the ball mount and the hitch together thus removing the rattle. You can see, with the two tightened together, the rattle is gone. Once you have it tightened on there, you can just go ahead and put the jam nuts on. It is going to prevent the tightening up from loosening up on us. Now you are ready to tow in peace and quiet. And that will conclude the review of part number RM-061, the Quiet Hitch Anti-Rattle Ring from Roadmaster.

Well built, high quality machined bar. I use the clamp upside-down, with the nuts facting up and back, and it is much easier to get on and off. It also holds the receiver tube in its original position rather than pulling it up.14999

Got tired of the rattles with an unloaded trailer. Put Quiet Hitch on before hauling an empty trailer 440 miles - what a difference. Couldn't use the stock Lexus/Toyota hitch, though - not enough clearence. Used an aftermarket hitch wtih the Quiet Hitch pulling down, rather than up. (See photo)15355

Won't fit class 4 hitches This unit did not fit over the flange on my Class IV hitch - it is not mentioned in the eTrailer online description but the packaging clearly states it is for use with Class III hitches - wish I had know that before purchasing.5483

It shipped quickly and arrived in just a few days. I tried it out on my receiver and it fit fine. I used it to try and keep the rattling and movement of the hitch when pulling a medium size utility trailer. It worked! I no longer have to listen to the rattle and clatter while I am driving down the road. It also helped with the little amount of swaying I would get on the highway. Overall, good product.30954

The product is so simple and it works as advertised. I did turn it around so it is clamping the drawbar down rather than lifting it up. It also makes it eaiser for me to reach the nuts. Also tighten both sides equally will help it from coming loose.29939

This hitch quieter does just that. Works on both my two inch bar, and a 1.25 inch bar with adaptor, with either going into a 2 inch receiver. No need for shims and the like to remove play from the bar-receiver interface. Wish I had discovered this years ago!27399

I was using a hitch stabilizer consisting of two threaded eye bolts that slide over the hitch receiver pin and a square bracket with rubber flange that slides over the hitch receiver but it only eliminated front to back rattle. Before buying the RM-061 Roadmaster Quiet Hitch I ruled out other more expensive and elaborate hitch stabilizers due to lack of depth of clearance of my hitch receiver. I wasn't sure if the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch would only eliminate up and down rattle but I put it on and it eliminated ALL play in my hitch receiver; front to back, left to right and up and down. I should have bought one of these a long time ago, thanks etrailer!21649

I purchase a road-master high low 6'' adapter, the product is perfect, shipping was super fast, superb communication, however rattling becomes a problem, so I purchase a roadmaster quiet hitch which stop my adapter from rattling, but now my bicycle rack is rattling so I need to purchase another quiet hitch, I just wish there was an automatic recommendation for the two quiet hitch from my original purchase of the 6'' adapter. 17377

I used this item in conjunction with an anti-rattle lock (part # 63232). The lock left a slight amount of up and down play in my hitch extension. After installing this quiet hitch, though, the thing feels like it's welded on. Regardless of your application, this item is an affordable addition to your towing setup. I give it top marks.10534
