Today were going to review part number RKY1081. This is the Rocky Mounts Driveshaft Fork Adapter and this is for bikes with a 15 millimeter or a 20 millimeter thru-axle fork on the bike. This will carry one bicycle. The application will work on the Rocky Mounts, the Yakima or the Thule Standard Fork Mount bike carrier. It has a weight capacity of 35 pounds and a one year limited warranty. Weve got an example here for demonstration purposes.

I pulled a Rocky Mount tie rod roof-mount bike carrier part number RKY1014. This is sold separately but for demonstrations were going to show it attaching it to that. This adapter opens up and as it is right now you can use a 20 millimeter thru-axle fork and if youd use a 15 millimeter they do include the set of nylon shims that you would install in there. That will allow you to use a 15 millimeter thru-axle. It is designed for a nice wide mouth for easy loading.

It has an adjustable cam lever right here which will help stabilize your bike and it will prevent theft of your bike because it has a built in lock. It does include the two keys which when you put it in there, turn it 90 degrees, take it out. It will lock it and will keep anybody from opening that which will keep your bike locked to the bike rack. This part is made of a cast steel and a stamped steel. It has a nice black anodized finish.

Now I do want to show you we do have an example of a bike here and this bike weve already removed the front tire and this one has the 15 millimeter thru-axle. Were going to demonstrate installing the bike onto this Rocky Mounts bike rack. First well zoom in a little bit here to give you a little better idea. You see the fork on this adapter which you would do like on any standard fork-mounted bike rack you just put that onto the fork. Then you tighten it just correctly until you can snap the handle down and then just snug it up.

That would keep it into place. Next thing you want to do is move on to your bike. Lets slide the axle back on to your bike. Well spin it in to tighten it down. Then just get it to the point once its tightened up enough. Back it off just a little and be able to snap it on. Then what you want to do is lift up on the cam lever. Open that up. Now this was designed for the 20 millimeter and were using a 15 millimeter so well take the shims. Go ahead and snap them into place. Lets go ahead and just set that up into there. Close it with the shims installed. The lever actually tightens and loosens, whatever size you need it to fit. You want to tighten just enough so you can push down on it and it will snap into place and hold that in. Then what youll do is take your key. Turn it ninety. Its locked and thatll prevent anybody from removing the bike from the bike rack. Very simple installation. Unlock it. Open that up. It removes very easily.
