Leaf springs are an integral part of your trailer suspension system. The double-eye spring is suspended at the ends by hangers that attach to its eye or, in the case of tandem-axle or triple-axle systems, into hangers in the front and rear and an equalizer or equalizers in the center. To determine the type of hangers or hanger kit you need, you must know the specific type of leaf spring you have, as well as your axle diameter and capacity. Depending on the hanger kits used with them, springs can be configured to work for single-, tandem- or triple-axle applications.
Please Note: To ensure proper axle alignment and suspension performance, leaf springs should always be replaced in pairs.

Today well be reviewing part number PR722, the 3-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 2,500-lb Axles. When ordering a new spring for your trailer, there are a few things you do need to know first. This spring measures 25 inches long by 1 inches wide. You will need to know the springs half-length which is measured from the center of the eye mount to the center of the leaf bolt here in the center of the spring. This spring has a 12 5/8-inch half-length. One final thing you will need to know is the spring height. To get this measurement, youll draw an imaginary line from the center of the eye mount on either side and using that imaginary line, youll measure from the spring surface giving us our height.
In this case is 3 inches.Youll notice the two 9/16 mounting bolt holes are lined with a nylon bushing. This bushing helps to prevent metal on metal contact while the spring is installed on the trailer. And that does it for part number PR722, the 3-Leaf Double-Eyed Spring for 2,500-lb axles. .

Thanks to etrailer.com, I was able to find out that this is the right spring for my trailer. Where before, my trailer was dangerously bouncy, now it rides as smooth as it should. Also thanks to etrailer's video, I knew exactly how to install it. It was very straightforward, and although it took some elbow grease, it wasn't too difficult in the end. Spring works perfectly, just what I needed.29717

I've just opened the box... they look as advertised and as long as they hold the load stated I'll be happy.... my intention is to never have them past about 1800-2000 lbs so all should be good.... 23037

To determine the capacity leaf springs you have on your 1996 Mobile Scout RFK-30 fifth-wheel trailer you should look on the frame of your trailer for a plate that will have the VIN number, there should also be a listing for the axle ratings too.
You can also tell the weight capacity of the axle by measuring the diameter of the axle. A 3,500-lb. axle will have a diameter of 2-3/8 inches and a 6,000-lb. to 7,200-lb. axle will have a diameter of 3 inches. I am sending a link to an FAQ page on tr view full answer...
The 3-Leaf Double-Eye Spring, # PR722, does not have a front and back, it can be installed with either eye facing towards the front of the trailer. This is what I would call a symmetrical spring. The center point of the spring is 12-5/8 inches from the center of either eye. I have included a link to our FAQ article on double-eye trailer springs for reference. view full answer...
For your 2005 Bri-Mar open trailer model CH16-7 with GVWR of 7,000 lbs I would recommend you get 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 3,500-lb Trailer Axles, part # PR4B.
These leaf springs are designed for use on trailers with 3,500 lb axles like what you should have on your trailer.
You should note that leaf springs have a tendency to stretch out over time, so the fact that these leaf springs are a little bit shorter than your current springs at 25-1/4 inches these would be the correct length. Y view full answer...
To be certain of the correct double eye leaf spring for your trailer, I will need to know the capacity of the axle itself. The axle capacity should be listed on a sticker or plate on the trailer frame. Add to that information some specific measurements, and we will be able to get you the correct leaf spring.
The measurements we need can be found on the diagram on the product page for Spring # PR722 after the specs. The weight should be off of the spring when you take the measurements. You ca view full answer...
Swapping out your 3500 lb leaf springs for the 2500 lb springs would improve your ride, IF (and only if) the weight of the boat, trailer, motor, gasoline, cooler, tackle boxes, more coolers, fishing poles and other gear stowed on it will not exceed the 2500 lb capacity of the springs. If the capacity is exceeded, you will actually experience a rougher ride as the trailer will bottom out. What is your axle rated for? If at all possible, you want to match the spring capacity to the capacity of the view full answer...
