Leaf springs are an integral part of your trailer suspension system. The double-eye spring is suspended at the ends by hangers that attach to its eye or, in the case of tandem-axle or triple-axle systems, into hangers in the front and rear and an equalizer or equalizers in the center. To determine the type of hangers or hanger kit you need, you must know the specific type of leaf spring you have, as well as your axle diameter and capacity. Depending on the hanger kits used with them, springs can be configured to work for single-, tandem- or triple-axle applications.

Please Note: To ensure proper axle alignment and suspension performance, leaf springs should always be replaced in pairs.

We ordered a set of 4 springs. Three matched, one clearly came from a difference source. All seemed to be well built but all contained marked differences in the size and shape of the openings where the spring bushings are inserted. Brass bushings would be seem to be a better choice than the plastic ones. We have covered about 500 miles since they were installed on our camper and they seem to be doing well.21024

If you need trailer parts etrailer is the place to get them. Trying to get all parts needed locally proved to be both impossible(from one vendor) and very expensive. After looking online etrailer seemed very reasonable. Free shipping after $150 also seemed great. So I decided to order wishing I could have found the parts locally, so that I could have the trailer put together by the weekend. After placing the order I was suprised to get an immediate confirmation and a notice of immediate shipment. After ordering the parts late tuesday, I received the parts by lunch time on thursday and finding the parts to be as ordered. Needless to say I am extremely satisfied with etrailer and will be saving the order information for all of my future needs. Thanks etrailer for such professional service. 6980

  • How to Measure Spring Length and Determine the Correct Replacement Springs for a Trailer
  • Measuring the distance from the center of one eye on your original springs to the center of the other eye will give you a general idea of the length of the new springs you need. Your springs may measure slightly longer due to wear so you will want to select a spring that is slightly shorter and matches the capacity of your trailer axle. Adding springs to your trailer that have a higher capacity than the axle capacity or the capacity of the hub and drum components is not recommended. You shoul

The easiest way for you to determine which leaf spring has the correct capacity for your trailer would be for you to check the weight capacity of the trailer and then get leaf springs that have that capacity.
