installation instructions and specs for complete information.
Today on this 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 series we will be installing we will be installing the fifth wheel to gooseneck wiring harness from Pollak part number PK11893-11932. The 5th wheel wiring harness that we are going to be installing today actually comes in two separate pieces here. The one end has these two connected ports that are going to plug into the backside of our existing 7 pole on the truck. There are open pins here on the other end, what we are going to do is wire that into the connector, and that is what is going to mount inside the bed. :37
Then we have the 7-pole itself, once we have it wired up the wiring harness will plug right into the back of it. We are going to start off inside the bed. The first thing we are going to do is find a mounting point for our plug. When determining where we want to mount our plug, the first thing we need to make sure of is that we are going to be mounting it in a spot where there is enough depth behind it. It is a good idea to go underneath the vehicle and take a look at what space you have in between the bed and the body. Just behind the rear axle there is a space in between the bed and the fender well. So that is the spot in the bed that we are going to drill our hole. 1:13
The manufacturer actually recommends you have 5 inches in between the bed and the body. So now that we have determined where we are going to mount the plug we can go back in the bed and drill the holes out for it. The manufacturer recommends you use a 2-1/8ths inch drill bit to accommodate the size of the plug. With the hole drilled you may need to take a file and run it around the outside side of the drilled hole just to make sure there are not any sharp or abrasive areas that could damage the wires as we feed them through. Next we are going to take our wiring harness and feed the end with the two plugs on it through our hole down, underneath the vehicle. With that lead of wire fed through we will next go ahead and take the open end here and wire it in to the provided plug. If you take a look at the back of the connector itself, the individual holes here are numbered. We will do a quick overview of which wire goes into each numbered hole. 2:15
In position 1 we will be placing the Red wire. Position 2 will be the white wire. Position 3 will be the blue wire. Position 4 the green wire. Position 5 the black wire. Position 6 the brown wire. Position 7 the yellow wire. With that stated we can put the wires into the connector. If you look at the wires with the terminals on them, there is a shorter and longer leg. We want the shorter leg of the connector to face towards the inside, or middle of the plug. That will hold true for all the connectors. With all the wires seated into place we will next take the blue internal ring and seat that on. Then we will plug our 7-pole in. On the back side of the tab here there is a gray locking clip that we want to push all the way in. That will help hold the two piece together and keep them from releasing on their own. We will the plug into our hole and mount it into place. 3:30
With the plug mounted in the bed we can go out to the 7-pole at the rear of the vehicle next, take it out and unplug the back side of it so we can plug our harness in line. To remove, this connector is a twist and tighten. There is a small tab on the outboard side here. If you take a flat head screw driver and push that in and rotate the plug counter clockwise. On the backside it is a similar plug like we mounted in the bed of the truck. Take and press the tab at the top and separate the pieces. Then you want to locate our harness, route it to the spot, and plug it in line. With everything connected we want to put the plug back into position. You may want to do a quick check underneath the vehicle for excess wire that you have, and tie that up and out of the way. That will conclude the installation of wiring harness part number PK11893-11932.

This is as easy as it gets. The hardest part is coring a hole through the sheet metal of the bed (not difficult at all). Pays to watch the video - the printed instructions do not show that the short bevel of the connector should go toward the center of the socket. All in all this is the best thing since sliced bread!27337

Quick and simple to install. Not sure why you would need to get the other version (9-ft) for so much more. Wires easily popped into the plug. You need self-tapping screws or just drill some pilot holes like I did to mount the plug. Looks great in my 2011 Silverado 2500HD. Word of caution... Watch out for the inner wheel-well support. Plenty of room (depth), but watch where you cut the hole.24947

The cable fit and quality was exactly as expected...spot on! It takes a little work to get the pins into the connector, but patience pays off. Just make sure you hear the faint "click" to know that it's seated properly.19771

Lights, harness, plug, junction box & break away First off the quality of all the things in the order is as you expect, very good. However, I did find that the fifth wheel harness was a little shorter than I would have liked. I had to position it carefully to get it to fit and It was still tight. An additional inch would have been nice. This is not a huge deal but I did notice. Shipping was prompt and packaging was very good. 5595
