MagnaFlow Exhaust Systems - MF16674

This cat-back exhaust system improves engine performance and durability by boosting horsepower and torque. Its technologically advanced, Mandrel bent tubing and straight-through muffler allow the exhaust to flow more freely through the system.

Features:

  • Improves engine performance by increasing horsepower, torque and fuel efficiency and decreasing exhaust gas temperature
    • Mandrel bent tubes allow for unrestricted airflow by maintaining the same diameter through every curve
      • Unrestricted airflow decreases back pressure ("exhaust turbulence")
    • Straight-through muffler has a stainless steel perforated core that runs straight through, end to end
      • Layer of stainless steel wool insulates the perforated core to absorb noise, shield high exhaust temperatures and prevent blowouts
      • Contains no baffles, chambers or louvers that restrict airflow
  • Signature sound is deep and throaty on throttle but quiet inside the vehicle
  • All materials made with 100% stainless steel
  • Clamps and hangers included for installation
  • Lifetime warranty

Specs:

  • Tubing diameter: 3"
  • Muffler is custom fit according to make and model
  • Tailpipe diameter: 3"
  • Tip diameter: 4"
  • Number of tips included: 2
  • Dual exhaust system
  • Split rear exit position

The cat-back system is the portion of the exhaust system from the outlet of the catalytic converter to the tailpipe. MagnaFlow systems have Mandrel bent tubes that allow for unrestricted airflow by maintaining the same diameter throughout every curve. This curvature leads to decreased back pressure.

MagnaFlow mufflers have a stainless steel perforated core that runs straight through the muffler, end to end, with no baffles, chambers or louvers that restrict airflow. A layer of stainless steel wool insulates the perforated core to absorb noise, shield high exhaust temperatures and prevent blowouts.

Together, the Mandrel bent tubes and straight-through muffler increase horsepower, torque and fuel efficiency and decrease exhaust gas temperature. MagnaFlow's signature sound is deep and throaty on throttle but quiet inside vehicles. All materials are made with 100 percent stainless steel. Clamps and hangers are included for installation. It includes a lifetime warranty.

Video Transcript for MagnaFlow Exhaust Installation - 2007 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500

Today on this 2007 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 we are going to be installing Magnaflow Exhaust system part number MF16674. The Magnaflow exhaust system is going to allow us to replace our factory exhaust from just rearward catalytic converters all the way to the exhaust tips. First thing we are going to need to do is remove the stock system.

There are four main clamps that are holding this section of our system together. There are two just forward of our mufflers that are connecting the mufflers to the over axle. If you follow forward, there are two more at the forward junction just rearward of the catalytic converters. With that muffler clamp loosened we can go ahead and remove the exhaust hangers. Keep in mind we will be reusing them with the new exhaust system. With the two hangers off, I can go ahead and take this section out. You will notice that the hangers on the passenger side are somewhat reversed from the driver side. However, they will unbolt the same way they did on the driver side. 1:11

With that rear section removed I am going to go to the forward clamps and loosen those up now. You can see with the clamp loosened I can take and pull the two right out of there. With that tube pulled out you can look back where the tube bends around the exhaust and you should be able to manipulate it back over and remove this tube. We will move over and do the same thing for the other axle over tube. Okay now we are going to start putting our new system in place. With the factory system removed we are going to put the new Magnaflow system in place. We are going to start with the extension pipes back into the clamps we had just loosened. They have a different bend than the factory ones. However, if you look at the factory ones in comparison to these, you can easily indicated which one is the driver and passenger sides. I am going to start with the driver side tube. What we want to do is manipulate it over the axle and it into the forward clamp here. Once we have it manipulated over, what I am going to do is lightly tighten up this clamp just enough to hold the tube in place, but where we can still rotate it side to side if need be until the entire system is in place. Then we will come back through and tighten it down. We will do the same thing for the passenger side too.

We will next take the driver side muffler and one of the new 3 inch clamps and slide it on there. Then we will connect that to our inlet tube. I am going to tighten this clamp up just enough to pull the two pieces together. Then we will move on and put the rubber hangers back on to the exhaust and bolt those to the frame. Again, I am going to go through and hand tighten down the muffler brackets. Then we will make our final adjustments and then tighten everything down. With the driver side muffler in place we are going to move over and do the same thing on the passenger side. With all the components in place, and all our hardware back into position, we want to do a quick check back through each one of the pipes on the mufflers to make sure we have all the clearance we need around the axle, under body systems and the cut-off for the exhaust tube. Once you have ensured everything is centered and in place where you want it, go ahead and start your final tightening. The clamps do have a torque rating, so you want to check with the directions to verify that specific torque rating. With that, that will conclude the installation of the Magnaflow performance exhaust system part number MF16674 on this 2007 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500.
