First of all etrailer is great; prompt shipping and immediate e-mail notifications throughout the purchase process. The unit was easy to install once we figured out the backup light color code for my 2011 Dodge Challenger (white w/light green stripe). It works great! Almost invisable; does not detract from the looks of the vehicle.17858

Installation was easy and this product works great. The wires are too short for a full size pickup but I easily lengthened them so that they would reach to the cab. I may add an off switch in the future, so I can back a trailer without hearing the alarm. I have had compliments on this sensor being almost hidden, not like the sensors attached to the bumper. I am very pleased and would recommend it to anyone.13834

Easy installation on a Ford Sport Trac--added about 5 feet of speaker wire due to the length of the pickup bed. The speaker, hidden behind the back seat, is loud enough to hear clearly. Works well and makes parking a large vehicle much easier.25624

  • Sensitivity Range of the MS-913 Back Up Sensor when installed on a Chrysler Town and Country Minivan
  • The Hopkins Backup Sensor System, item # HM60100VA, is designed to detect items directly behind the vehicle and straight out. I spoke with my contact at Hopkins and he explained that the backup sensor would detect items at the ground for a distance of 5-1/2 feet, or so. Also the unit will not pickup items very near to the vehicle once the item is past where the sensor can detect the item. Say a box is laying on the ground 15 feet behind your vehicle. At a point where you get within 5-1/2 fe

  • Can the Hopkins Audible Backup Sensor System # HM60100VA Be Mounted Upside Down
  • Yes, the Hopkins Backup Sensor System - Audible Alert - License Bracket Mount, item # HM60100VA, can be mounted upside down. However, if your rear bumper protrudes out below the license plate, then the backup sensor will not be able to pickup items that are low to the ground. The sensor might then need to be adjusted upward, creating a larger blind spot, to keep it from sensing the bumper. You will also be exposing the sensors to more weather and road debris in the lower position. The alarm i

  • Audible Beep Distance and Sound When Using Hopkins Backing Sensor System HM60100VA
  • Backup sensor system # HM60100VA will start too beep as objects become 5-1/2 feet away from the sensor. • Will the Hopkins License Plate Frame Backup Sensor Work on a Toyota Tundra Deep Drop Bumper
  • The Hopkins Backup Sensor System, # HM60100VA, will work with a metal step bumper on the Toyota Tundra, but, depending on how far back the plate is from the rest of the bumper, it may not function to its fullest capacity. Each sensor on the plate can sense objects about 5-1/2 feet out at about a 45 degree field. If an object was very close to the back of your truck and off to one side, the sensors may not be able to detect the presence.

  • The Hopkins Backup Sensor System - Audible Alert - License Bracket Mount, # HM60100VA, is designed to be wired in with the reverse light circuits so it will only be operating when in reverse and not while towing or parked. If you are still concerned about that annoying alarm, what you can do is to mount the actual alarm in an easily accessible location. The wire lead on it is not very long and has a connector on the end that connects to a longer strip of wiring that goes back to the sensor. I

  • Sensitivity of Hopkins Back up Sensor Part # HM60100VA
  • The Back Up sensor is designed to start beeping when you are approximately 5-1/2 feet away from an obstacle. I have contacted Hopkins, who tells me that the sensitivity is not adjustable. They did mention that the angle of the sensors themselves can be adjusted. If they are aimed so that they are pointing straight back from the rear of the vehicle, objects that are closer to the ground might not be picked up, especially on taller vehicles. I would recommend adjusting the sensors so that they

  • The Hopkins Backup Sensor System, # HM60100VA, can be wired to any 12 volt source, that will work for your application. Normally the power wire for the backup sensor is spliced into the reverse light circuit at the rear of the vehicle, near the back of the tail lights. If you want to use the system on the front of your vehicle, you will need to determine when you will need the system to be activated. If you want it to be on at all times when the vehicle is being operated, you could wire the p

The wire lead on it is not very long and has a connector on the end that connects to a longer strip of wiring that goes back to the sensor. If this connection point between the alarm and the longer harness is within easy reach, you could temporarily disconnect the alarm when you wanted. Adding a switch is a possibility. I think with or without a switch, on a truck you will most likely need extra wiring. The wiring

  • Hopkins Backup Sensor System Sending False Alarms on a Ford E-250 Van
  • I think you are exactly right. The depth of the mounting location is somehow affecting the sensors on the Hopkins Backup Sensor System, # HM60100VA. There are a couple of things you can do. First, you can try mounting the unit upside down with the sensors on the bottom. The drawback is that if the rear bumper sticks out further, it will block some of the range of the sensors. You can also introduce some sort of spacer between the back of the unit and where it mounts. This may require longer h

This will make the installation easier. First, find a location in the passenger cab to locate the audible alarm. The package shelf behind the rear seats would be a good spot.
