- Red Wire Pin Location on Hopkins Brake Controller Harness for Chevy/GMC Trucks
- The red wire is not supposed to be in the block on the harness when it is packaged. Hopkins leaves this last wire out so that the same part can be used for multiple model years. The end user needs to determine which slot it belongs in before the brake controller is hooked up. The pin location for a 2006 is different than for a 2002.
For your 2006 model, the red wire should be in pin location D as shown in Fig. 4 of the directions that were shipped with the harness. Since you had inserted the

There are a couple of wires, one is usually red and tucked on the side of the power distribution box, the other is usually black and can be found under the brake master cylinder.
They need to be connected to the power posts on the power distribution box. I have added a link to an FAQ article we have that walks through the process, with photos.

- Will Hopkins Brake Control Wiring Adapter # HM47795 Fit a 2007 Chevy With the Factory Tow Package
- In 2007, Chevrolet stopped putting a plug on their factory brake control wiring, so you will not be able to install a brake controller by plugging it in.
Instead, you have a factory wiring harness bundled underneath your dash. The wire colors should be red with a black tracer, white, light blue with a white tracer, dark blue. You may also have an orange wire for a center high mount stop lamp function, but this would not be used for a brake controller installation.

- Brake Wire Location For the Hopkins Agility Plug In Wiring on a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe Z71
- The first thing you should do is make sure that the red wire on the Plug-in Simple Brake Wiring Adapter, item # HM47795, is connected to the correct port in the connector. For your 2001 Chevy Tahoe Z71 you will need to insert the red wire into slot A. If your brake controller comes on when the headlights are turned on you definitely have the red wire in the wrong location.

- What Do I Need to Install a Brake Controller on my 1992 Chevy Silverado
- The 1992 Chevy C/K Series 1500 did not come with a port for a brake controller. Instead, you will need to hard wire the brake controller by first installing a 4-Way, # 118315, and then installing a 7 and 4 Way Installation Kit, # ETBC7. If the Truck already has a 4-Way, then you will not need the 118315. I have included a link to the installation details and a video below showing installation of an ETBC7 kit.

You will also have to connect the two wires under your hood so your tow package will be functional before the center high mount stop light will function on your 2010 Chevy 1500. I attached an FAQ article on how this is done for you to check out.
