- We strongly recommend not hauling any more than the lowest rated component of your system. You must also keep in mind that using an extender decreases the hitch tongue weight capacity by 50%. This would mean your hitch tongue weight capacity would be only 175 lbs. It would not be safe to carry more than 175 lbs with your hitch and extender. - I am sorry, but a 10 inch hitch extender is not currently available. We do have a 14 Inch Trailer Hitch Extender, part # HE12.
Please note that using a hitch extender will lower the tongue weight capacity of the hitch maximum downward force that can be applied to the receiver by 50 percent. If your hitch currently has a 350 pound tongue weight capacity, using the extender will lower it by half to 175 pounds.
