Dutton-Lainson Trailer Winch - DL10952

Worm Gear, Split Drum Handle Drive - 1,500 lb

Applications requiring safe, controlled movement of loads need the D-L worm gear winch. The reel automatically stops turning whenever cranking is stopped. There is no free wheel mode, no special mechanism required to stop gear movement and they do not require a minimum load for operation. The split drum will allow cable to pull from opposite directions.

  • Capacity: 1,500 lbs.
  • Capacity is based on direct line pull on the first layer of line on the drum. Capacity is reduced as line builds up on the drum
  • Laminated high carbon steel gears are heat treated for longer life
  • Heavy gauge embossed steel base for extra strength
  • Permanently lubricated bearing on drive shaft are maintenance free
  • Handle drive
  • Heavy duty 1/2" variable speed drill may speed up operation
  • Split reel allows operation of 2 lines for greater versatility
  • Powder coated copper bronze finish
  • 5 year limited warranty
  • Made in the USA

All D-L winches are built for multipurpose hauling and lifting operations. They are not to be used as hoists for lifting, supporting or transporting people, or for loads over areas where people can be present.

  • Can Split Reel Worm Gear Hand Winch, # DL10952 be Used to Secure a Tractor in a Trailer
  • The Dutton-Lainson Worm Gear Hand Winch with Split Reel, # DL10952, is not designed to secure the tractor and is not rated for this type of application. I would use ratchet straps like the Erickson Re-Tractable, Ratcheting, Bolt-On Tie-Down Strap (2 Pack), # EM31319, to secure the tractor in the trailer. I have included a link to a video review of these straps below. These straps will work well for securing loads but should not be used to hoist or pull the tractor into the trailer.

However, for the Dutton-Lainson Worm Gear Hand Winch with Split Reel for 2 Cables, # DL10952, that you have referenced, you can use a heavy duty 1/2 inch variable sp
