The stacked-plate heat exchanger included is the most effective type of oil cooler, primarily because of its increased surface area. Allowing fluid to spread out over this larger surface area decreases the time required for heat transfer to take place, resulting in ultimate efficiency.
The sandwich adapter in this kit provides the external oil lines necessary to install a cooler without requiring you to move the factory spin-on oil filter, making it even easier to extend the life of your vehicle's engine. In addition, the thermostatic bypass feature allows oil cooler than 180 degrees to bypass the heat exchanger, so your engine will warm up faster.

- Do Any Factory OEM Components Need to be Replaced to Install Engine Oil Cooler # D15602
- I spoke with my contact at Derale. He stated that you will not have to replace any components to install the Engine Oil Cooler Kit, # D15602.
When installing an engine oil cooler, you will need to make sure there is enough room for the sandwich adapter and oil filter. With the adapter in place, the oil filter will stick out about 2 inches further. Make sure you have enough room to remove and reinstall the filter with the adapter in place.
