- How to Wire Trailer Brake Magnets
- As long as one of the wires coming from the back of the hub is a ground and the other is a power, it does not matter which wire on the magnet goes to which wire from the back of the hub.
I have included a link to a video of a magnetic brake replacement video that may be helpful. It is for a different size brake, but you it shows the whole process.

- Electric Trailer Brakes not Releasing
- The easiest first step here would be to try the trailer on a different truck, and see if the same problem occurs. If the trailer brakes are free until the trailer is plugged in, I suspect that something is mis wired. I would suggest examine the wiring where the break away system was bypassed and make sure that the 12-volt accessory feed is not connected to the brake wire at some point.

- Troubleshooting An Electric Drum Trailer Brake that Will Not Release On One Side
- I would start by checking to see if 12 volt power is constantly running to the right brake. If it is for some reason, trace the wiring to make sure it is connected in the right place. Also make sure the ground is attached to a clean and corrosion free bare metal surface.
Then, you can go back and basically start from scratch with the installation. Make sure that everything is properly installed and that the brakes are adjusted correctly. You can also test the magnet. I would check the magnet

- The SH error code on the Prodigy indicates a general problem with the brake output circuit. In your case, in addition to the magnets possibly causing the problem, it is a good idea to check the rest of the system as well.
I would check the magnets for wear before going on to test them with a meter. If the magnets show abnormal wear or if you can see the windings beginning to show through the friction surface of the magnet then they will need to be replaced.

- Do Dexter Nev-R-Lube Hub and Drums Use the Same Brake Components as Other Dexter Hub and Drums
- The Dexter Nev-R-Lube Hub and Drums will use the same braking components as other Dexter Hub and Drums. You would just need to determine the size of the drum in order to determine which parts to use. The magnet you were looking at, part # BP01-180, is for 12 inch drums. The magnet you would use for 10 inch drums is part # BP01-110.
Same principle applies for shoes and entire brake assemblies.
