Video Transcript for Rage Powersports Hitch Mounted Motorcycle Carrier Review

Alright. today we are going to review motorcycle carrier, part number AMC400 from Rage Powersports products. OK, this motorcycle carrier is their aluminum version with a tray that holds the bike that is aluminum. Also, the loading ramp is aluminum. However, the main post that goes into the receiver hitch is a painted and primer steel shank. It also comes with an anti-rattle device. So when you install it, it helps to keep it from rattling around a little bit. And the loading ramp is actually stored with the carrier. The carrier does come with a tie-down loop to help tie down your bike, too. There is one on the outboard side and one on the inboard side. There is a bolt in the front where you put your front wheels. It is adjustable. You can take out one bolt for larger size wheels and you install the bolt for a smaller size vehicle. This has a load capacity of up to 400 pounds. 0:53

Alright, we will go ahead and install the hitch pin. We are just going to use a standard hitch pin, as shown here. But also you can use your favorite locking hitch pin if you have one. Then we slide on our anti-rattle device as far as possible. And we will tighten up the bolts that go underneath. It helps to keep it from rattling around a little bit. Alright, next we will go ahead and employ the ramp. We will just go ahead and undo the wing nuts here. Put the wing nuts back into place. And attach our ramp right here, it has a hook. Go ahead and attach it and just pull it right down. Keep it straight and we can load our bike onto it. Alright, since the fact we are going to load up and have a larger diameter tire, we are just going to go ahead and remove this bolt right here so our wheel can fully sink in right here. OK, alright let us go ahead and load our bike. One side is going to sink down because the weight is going to be on one side. Then we will put the bike on the other side and it all balances out. 1:54

You can use your favorite tie-downs. However, in this case, we are going to be using part number EM05729 and those are from Erickson Manufacturing. Alright, the nice part about this strap is that it has a nice built-in loop at the end and the tie-down hook will actually go into that. And then you just have the fabric itself on your bike. It down not scratch up your surface too bad. So let us go ahead and just put it around the handle bar and then put it through the loop. See how it holds it? And to release it we will just unbuckle it right here by pushing down on this button. See how that releases? Alright and we put it onto our tie-down loop on the motorcycle carrier. Alright, once you have it the way you want it just go ahead and pull it back down. And it kind of ratchets it in place and you squeeze it together and it is secure. 3:04

OK, we are going to put the other one on to stabilize the bike. We are not going to put it completely tight because we need to have a little bit of wiggle room so we can get the ramp back on. Alright, to get the ramp loose we are going to roll the bike forward a little bit if you can and pick it up. And pull the ramp out. Then we will go ahead and store the ramp again. Then we will finalize tying down the motorcycle. And when you finalize it, you can go ahead and pull down on the strap even tighter. Alright, with our bike loaded up we are ready to hit the trail. And there you have it for part number AMC400, from Rage Powersports products.

Nice Product, easy to assembly except bolts are low grade, one broke and one the threads stripped. Replaced all bolts and nuts with stainless steel and added washers. Ramp is to short for my scooter causing the scooter to bottom out when loading and unloading.18441

I have not used it to yet to transport my DRZ400S. My hitch is about 3-4 inches behind the bumper. I have air lift load leveler and therefore, my bumper dropped only 2 inches with the bike loaded. Pros: Well made and easy to put together. It takes about 15-20 minutes Max to put together. I would recommend it. Even with the hitch being recessed behind my bumper, there is still about 4 inches of clearance between the handlebars and the back window of my caravan. They increased the number of bolts attaching the horizon supports from 4 to 8. The anti tilt now has 3 bolts on the carrier side and 1 bolt on the tonque side, instead of only 1 bolt. Cons: the instructions are for an older version. 11297

  • Will a Hitch Mounted Motorcycle Carrier Work with the Spare tire on a 2003 Honda CRV
  • You will need to do some measuring. Measure from the center of the hitch pin hole to the farthest back part of the spare tire on your CRV. This will give you the measurement you need to compare to the measurements of the rack. The Rage PowerSport Aluminum Motorcycle Carrier for 2 inch Hitch, item # AMC400, has a measurement of 18 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the wheel track and 14-3/4 inches to the closest edge of the carrier. I am confident, if you have a standa

  • Using the Rage PowerSport Aluminum Motorcycle Carrier on the Front of a 2006 Dodge Ram
  • The Rage PowerSport Aluminum Motorcycle Carrier for 2 inch Hitch Receiver, item # AMC400, will work in a front mount hitch as long as the weight of the motorcycle and the weight of the carrier (40 pounds) will not exceed the capacity of the front mounted hitch or the vehicle frame. Rage recommends that the tongue weight capacity for the hitch and vehicle be at least 500 pounds. Check the hitch and with your vehicle dealer for these capacities. You will also need to take into account the amount o

  • Motorcycle and Scooter Carriers
  • I would recommend the Rage PowerSport Steel Motorcycle Carrier # MX600. This carrier has a front tire cradle that adjusts with pull pins from 8 inches to 12 inches for perfect fit. It also is designed to fit smaller scooters like yours that are less than 300 pounds. The Rage PowerSport Aluminum Motorcycle Carrier # AMC400 is made for smaller, two-wheel motored vehicles (not exceeding 400 pounds), and there is a 16 inch opening for the front tire to drop into so it may not work with the wheel

  • How Does the Anti-Tilt Device on Rage PowerSport Motorcycle Carrier Part AMC400
  • The Anti-Tilt device is tightened against the hitch tube, not the vehicle bumper. It pushes against the hitch to hold the carrier steady. I have included a link to a video of a demo and review of the 2 bike version of this carrier. We show how the Anti-Tilt Device attaches. Depending on your bumper shape, it may prevent the device from sliding all the way back to the hitch. The device is not meant to touch or use the bumper. Please note that the tongue weight capacity for all the hitches w

  • Will the Dirt Bike Hitch Carrier # AMC400 Work on a 2007 Jeep Patriot with 2 Inch Hitch
  • The Rage PowerSport Aluminum Motorcycle Carrier, item # AMC400, is designed to safely carry 400 pounds of weight. The vehicle weight capacity is usually listed in the owner manual or can be obtained from the dealer or manufacturer, and you will need to check the tongue weight capacity of the hitch on your Patriot. As long as the vehicle and trailer hitch tongue weight capacity is 500 pounds or more, and it is used under normal conditions, you will not have a problem using the # AMC400 carrier

  • Is There A Motorcycle Carrier Available That Will Fit a 1-1/4 Hitch On a 2005 Ford Explorer
  • To use the Rage PowerSport Motorcycle Carrier, part # AMC400, or any motorcycle carrier, you would need to install a Class III 2 inch hitch on your 2005 Ford Explorer. I would recommend the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, part # 75132, which has a tongue weight capacity of 500 lbs. The OEM or factory 1-1/4 inch hitch that is on your Ford Explorer does not have the capacity to support a motorcycle carrier and motorcycle. The Draw-Tite Hitch will install below your factory 1-1/4 hitch and will allow y

  • The Rage PowerSport Aluminum Motorcycle Carrier # AMC400 that you referenced has tongue weight capacity of 400 lbs and you should have no problem carrying your Yamaha Zuma 125 Scooter that weighs 200 lbs with it. The wheelbase of your scooter is right at 50 inches and the track length of the # AMC400 75 inches. This would allow you help center the weight of your scooter with the extra track length on the carrier, that way you are not putting all of the weight of the scooter onto one side of t

  • As you may have figured the length of the ramp and the angle at which the ramp must be placed to rest on the ground will make a big difference in whether a scooter will bottom out when placing it on either of these carriers. All things being equal, the carrier with a longer ramp, # MX600, will have less of an angle and be a better option for scooters with low center heights. If you can find a slight slope to pull the vehicle up next to before loading the scooter, you will not have to worry about
