Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Video Transcript for Kenda Tires and Wheels AM3H410 Review

Today, we will review part number AM3H410, which is a tire and wheel combo of a Kenda 205/65-10 Bias Trailer Tire with a 10" white spoke wheel. The steel wheel is made by Dexstar. It is a white, powder coat finish. A few of the dimensions you will need to know on the wheel (and I will show you how to measure them) is the diameter, which is 10" diameter by 6" wide. Another thing to know would be the bolt pattern, which on this wheel, there are four bolts, and the distance between them would be 4", so your bolt pattern would be 4 on 4. The wheel capacity is 1,650 pounds.

It uses a wheel bolt size of 1/2" X 20". Another critical measurement would be the pilot hole diameter. This is what will fit over the hub on your trailer. On this wheel, the measurement would be 2-1/2". Next, I'll move to the tire.

The tire is a Kenda tire, size 205/65-10. It is of bias construction, which means it is designed with the belts that would run the length of the tire and would give a little bit firmer ride as opposed to a radial tire, where the construction goes from sidewall to sidewall. The load range of this tire is D, which is an 8-ply rating, which will give you a maximum load of 1,330 pounds at 70psi. This package comes with a limited two-year warranty, and that again, will cover part number AM3H410, which is the Kenda 205/65-10 Bias Trailer Tire and 10" Dexstar white spoke wheel.

  • Can a 5.30-12 Trailer Tire on a Rockwood Pop Up Camper be Replaced with a Larger Size Wheel and Tire
  • From what I am looking at, Kenda Tire, # AM10068, it has a width of 5.5 inches, 21.9 inches tall, and it has a capacity of 1,250 pounds at 105 psi. But it is a 5.30-12 size like you currently have on the trailer. Another option is the Kenda Karrier S-Trail ST145/R12 Radial Trailer Tire, # AM10130. This tire is rated at 1,220 pounds at 65 psi and is 5.7 inches wide, 21.3 inches tall. To go wider, you would need to move up to a 13 inch rim. Take a look at the Loadstar ST175/80D13 Bias Traile
