One end of the bar is placed around the seat post, while the other end grabs the stem of the handlebars thus providing an alternate attachment point for hitch mounted bike racks.

Great product. Just use an extra strap between your frame (under the seat) and the carrier bar for added safety. Just think... if the seat came off, your bike would be on the ground without it!5923

This product is a God send. Too bad that th bike rack I purchased didn't mention the fact that I way need to purchase a bike frame attachment. If they did it would have beeen better thank god this product is available and that etrailer had it available.1965
