Today we are going to show you part number A30901 from SportRack. This is their 2 bicycle rack designed for 1-1/4 and 2 inch receiver hitches. We will go ahead and show you the features and what is really nice about this bicycle rack. We will go ahead and start by installing it in our 2 inch receiver hitch. It is pretty easy. Instead of a hitch pin, it comes with a bolt. You pull this safety clip out and it just unscrews like a normal bolt. Then you just slide it in aligning the holes before you reinstall the bolt. You go ahead and tighten it down with a 3/4 inch wrench. This bolt acts like a anti rattle device that makes the entire thing one solid assembly now. OK, once we have our bolt installed, we will install our safety pin just to make sure if it comes loose it will not come all the way out.
OK, now we can go ahead and unfold the rack, it is pretty nice. Now let us go ahead and pull out these two outside pins here and just let the arms fall down. And then you re-install the pin to it from bouncing around, same thing for the other side. Before we can load a bike on, I want to show you a couple of nice details about this rack. First off, the wells where the wheels go are pretty easy to adjust with a simple knob here that slides back and forth. It is pretty easy. We will leave it loose so we can put our bike on and make our adjustments as needed. And then also, the clamps that hold the bike down work the same way. They are full adjustable and just use a knob to tighten them all up and to loosen it and you can move it basically at will. It fits virtually all size frames and bikes out there. We also need to loosen our straps, so we will do that before we put the bike on. It is pretty simple. We will go ahead and install our bike. Put it in the little wells there.
And again, take a minute to make sure you have it the way you want it and then go ahead and just tighten it down, snug them up. And then, we will bring our middle post in and just go ahead and lay that in place. And then we will go ahead and pin up our center post here. Now that we have our bike temporarily in place we will just go ahead and cinch it down. Just push it down and then tighten the knob on this hook here and your bike it virtually not going to go anywhere. Lets go ahead and do our wheel straps now. Over the rung here, buckle, and then just back over. This is like a little extra safety chain basically. And again the same thing for the back tire. We will actually put on our second bike that has a smaller frame than the first one to show its adjustablility. As you can see, we need to stick on our second bike. However, it would be easier if this was on top instead of this one, but since this bike frame is a little bit taller than the other one generally you want to put the heavier bike towards the vehicle and the lighter bikes out back.
You can actually switch around as needed for different sized frames which is actually pretty handy. Just put it in the wheel wells, make any adjustments that you need to, and just go ahead and pull up our hook and push it back down into place. OK, and there you have it, two bikes properly stored and you are ready for your road trip. Alright, and there you have it for part number A30901 from Sport Rack, the two bike bicycle rack that is a wheel carrier for 1-1/4 and 2 inch receiver hitches.

This was one of the few racks I found that claimed to have a maximum capacity of 90 pounds (which is important to me as I plan to carry downhill bikes on it). Overall the rack works very well. It is easy to set up and It holds the bikes firmly and securely. However, I have two minor issues with it. 1. It is hard to get out of the hitch. WD 40 seems to have helped with that. 2. The rack sways a lot with two bikes on it, while driving around town. It seems to be more stable on the freeway. My guess is this is because of the1 1/14 inch hitch. 11725

For the price you get what you paid for, I have no regrets, but this is no thule quality product, don't get confused. If money is an issue (like it was for me) this is a good option, if you don't mind spending twice as much go with Thule. 9166

2" Hitch adapter is plastic This platform bike rack is easy to use and holds the bikes very secure. But there is one complaint I have, but it isn't a minor one. The 2" hitch adapter they send with the rack is a mold piece of plastic and one of the sides is left open even. It is very poor and does not allow the rack to be secured in the receiver correctly. The bike rack will still bounce around, but the bikes at least stay very secure in the rack itself. I found a steel sleeve adapter from Thule that they include with their bike rack for about $8 and it works so much better. It cured the rack bouncing and moving so I'm satisfied now. But that first time I used it I wasn't happy and upon removing it found the plastic adapter had warped and indented making the 'slop' even worse. I'd skip this one and go for the Swagman instead if you have a 2" receiver, the adapter with that looks like it's steel vs the pliable plastic one with this rack.3248

I was very impressed I have never used a hitch mounted bike rack before. I've had nightmare experiences with trunk mounts and decided to try this one due to the earlier reviews. Everything positive stated is true. It is easy to set up, mount and use. I installed it on my motor home and the only tiny problem was getting the back bike installed with the spare tire in the way. In no way the racks fault. We took it to Yosemite and back. I could see the bikes in my rear view camera as we rode over an awful interstate 5. They kept steady and secure.3064

Good design but not sturdy Rack bounces over every little bump therefore the frame hooks won't stay tight. Since the upright post and the cross post on both wheel sides are all flimsy due to the pins in them. Light weight it is but need more thought to make it sturdy. I would NOT recommend this bike rack.2172

Great way to carry bikes I purchased this carrier to carry two beach cruisers, fat tired bicycles, behind my VW Camper. Took them cross country from San Francisco to Key West and back, about 10,000 miles with no problems. A little bouncy but it performed well during the trip. Easy to remove and replace the bikes. I added some reflective tape and bought the two lock system to secure the bikes. Durable. Works Great!!!2111

Works with any size bike We've owned ours for since 1976, we have one of the eariler models but still works as well as well as the newer models. We use it on the back bumper hitch of our travel trailer. We can mount kid or adult bikes quick and safely. The bikes are supported by the wheels and are very stable durring travel. The post folds down making it easier to mount the first bike. Great rack for the money. 1806

Easy to use, not very sturdy Product is easy to use but is somewhat difficult to adjust by yourself. Rack bounces and you will need a bike beam for the step through model of bike even though the add says you don't, you do. Velcro is very strong and worked well at keeping tires still and in brackets. 1160

Bike carrier recommend it Sport Rack 2 bike carrier: Minimal assembly required, instructions easy to read and straight forward. Had it together and on vehicle in about 20 minutes, would have been less time if I didn’t take a couple Cigar breaks. Love it carries my wife’s and my bike just fine with no rattles. The wife’s bike is a little shorter and lower but the carrier has sufficient adjustability to even place granddaughters miniscule bike on with just a few minor adjustments. When not in use it may be taken off and stored very convenient. 1137

Great item. Very well made item. Attachment to hitch was very stable and it is very easy to place bikes onto the rack. There is very good ground clearance from the ground on relative steep inclines. In order to make bikes fit, you will have to experiment with placement of the rubberized frame hooks and once set, it will not be an issue. We took our bikes on a ride over very uneven rockyterrain and there was minimal movement of the rack and no rattles were detected. Great item!! 1060

This SportRack bicycle rack mounts to the class-1 trailer hitch. I made a video of the finished installation to my 2011 Honda Fit Sport. I was able to do all the installation myself (thanks to your helpful videos to show me how). The ordering and delivery of your products so far have been a very positive experience for me. However, I am uncomfortable with the amount of wiggle and twisting that occurs on the bike rack. I would feel more comfortacle if that central member was more stout and rigid. The bike rack also lacks adequate length of velcro straps to wrap around and secure my fat mountain bike tires.30727

Only miner problem, is with the 2 bike hold-downs in the center. They were difficult to put on the center bar. I found that by removing the clamp knob completely, made the task a little easier. It is mounted on the back of a 2011 RAV-4, and it works great. Enough room to clear spare tire cover, and folds up for easy storage. I would recommend this product.27165

I thought the product was easy to use. It worked great on my Honda Fit, being high enough for road clearance. I also purchased the hitch and cable lock. I like that they are keyed alike and how the cable lock was attached to the hitch. The rack works well for both men's and women's bikes. It's easy to lift the bikes onto the rack, and the rack holds the bikes securely. I had previously purchased a different rack that was harder to load the bikes onto, and didn't have enough ground clearance for me to back the car out of the driveway. I was impressed by how light and portable this new rack was.18474

Fairly easy to assemble. The end cap on the vertical post broke while putting on the clamps. And a wire securing a pin got pinched and broke when first opening to assemble. It was easily fixed. The pin holding the vertical arm in position doesn't completely hang free which made me a bit nervous that it might pop out, so I taped it while in transit. Now for how it worked. The girl's bike I transported was help in place securely and the rack seemed tight in the hitch with not a lot of movement. The fold down arm allowed me to get access to the back of my 4Runner with the bike installed. It did what I expected.14808

I would have rated this bike rack Excellent, except for one thing...I cannot open the back door of my Toyota Rav4 while it is attached to my hitch. I understand this also applies to other vehicles. So, if you're expecting to go camping, shopping, etc. with your bike rack attached, be aware you will not be able to open your back door for rear loading and unloading. You can see from the photos, the maximum you can open the door is about 8-9 inches, with the platform arms folded down. I like everything else about this product.11816

Perfect Rack, fits on my 2005 Honda CR-V I received my rack yesterday and put it together in about 30 minutes. I immediately mounted on our 2005 CR-V and loaded our two Hybrid bicycles. I was very happy to find that everything fit perfectly with plenty of space between the spare tire and the bicycles. The rack was easy to install and adjust. The only problem I had was that I had trouble installing the hooks. Apparently I needed to remove the plugs, a step missing from the instructions, before installing the hooks and in the process broke one of the plugs. However, I just ordered the lock kit and that utilized the hole covered by the plug. Great rack, great price.3761

Best bike rack I've ever used I've had quite a few different bike racks including an expensive "hanging" type hitch mount rack. The SportRack is by far the most stable and worry free of them all. It's much easier on the bikes too - no scratched up paint or pedals getting stuck in chains. I would recommend this rack to anyone.2913

Really a nice rack Had this rack recommended to me from mtbr.com and it was a good choice. We have mtn bikes, so standard trunk racks don't work because they are too wide. This thing is fully adjustable and seems to keep the bike nicely seated. I ordered the lock kit as well as added security in case the rack should fail and the bikes become lose. Great price too, it was either this, a roof rack ($700) or a trunk rack (which often fails and the bikes go flying, or it damages the back of your car). So far so good.2744

Simple, Sturdy and Functional Bought a Draw-tite 1 1/4 class II hitch at the same time. Between the price of the hitch and bike rack, I paid less than some friends who spent that much for only the bike rack... and they still had to buy a hitch get it professionally installed for $$$$. I assembled and installed both easily, in less than an hour with only a ratched wrench and 2 sockets. The rack is great, easy for my wife to use and better than some that cost much more. I replaced the screw-on hitch pin with a slide-in clutch type pin so no tools are needed to mount it in a hurry. The 1 1/4 tubing on the rack fits snugly into a 1 1/4 receiver hitch without the need to tighten it with a bolt.2565

Excellent rack for the money Products arrives unassembled. Easy to assemble though. Solid enough for a 1 1/4" rack to feel confident with. I ride both raod and mountain bikes and have not issues or concerns w/ the rack. The anti-rattle pin works perfectly. The center arm does swing out of the way, so you can open the rear dor to your cargo area, and the arms both fold up when not in use. I do however, highly recommend the hitch and bike lock kit that goes to this rack. When I am not using the rack and leave it in the hitch, I fold up the arms and then run the cable lock through the wheel holders - now even the parts of the bike rack itself are secure and locked as well as the rack being locked to the vehicle.2421

Great Bike Rack Awesome shopping experience with ETrailer. The SportsRack rocks a little bit but that is part of its design. It carries the bikes safely, it doesn't touch your car, it doesn't cover you rear window or tail lights. Very easy to install, very easy to load / unload the bikes. Getting the cable and lock for added safety is a must.2309

Great! except.... I've had the SportRack for two months now, and have been extremely happy until now. It is easy to use, secure, and eliminates the problem of the bikes rubbing together. But after about 6 trips I discovered that the rubber pads that come down on the bike's top tube had split, resulting in paint worn off to the metal on both bikes. I still highly recommend this, but if you get one, you HAVE to add padding. The rubber tubes should be reinforced so they will last. 2298

Best bike rack ever This is a far better rack than all the others I've ever owned. No need to remove wheels or to lift the bike up onto the cartop. Bikes are not exposed to wind and bugs and low clearances (garages) not a problem. I would rate it higher if I had not had to install a hitch in order to mount it.2203

Met every expectation and more Love the way this rack carries our bikes with the wheels in tracks, rather than dangling them from a post. Especially since I've switched to a women's style bike, and don't have the crossbar from my previous 'mens' style bike. Easy use, easy installation, Bikes travel secure and steady. Met every expectation.2117

Top Ratings all around Very nicely done. Built it on my lunch break at work, and installed right there in the parking lot. Excellent size and fit for a '09 Subaru Forester. I really like the bolt-in effect that keeps the rack stable by snugging it against the receiver - my former rack did not fit so well. Fits my Specialized Allez Elite and my Trek 3700 no problems, and I have big frames on my bikes. Took my son's Rockhopper Comp as well. Bike fit is secure, with no wobble, and after loading two bikes, I gave it a good test zipping around town. The up-angle on the rack support also keeps the wheels away from the road when backing out the driveway, always a concern since we have a goodly slope down to meet the road.2049

Well Engineered Extremely easy to set up and use. My wife and I both have Trek 7100 M&W. I read another post from Miss Kitty that said you have to have a beam for the step through bike. I didn't find that to be the case and was quite pleased with the adjustablity afforded by changing which holder goes on top. My business partner and I ordered 2 on a Monday and got them on Wednesday, I was very surprised and pleased at the immediate perosnalized e-mail responses from their customer service and shipping departments.1855

Excellent Rack - Moderate Cost Well-designed and well made. The bikes load quickly and easily, and the rack is fairly easy to install. I can install it on my car and securely load one bike in about 5 minutes. The bikes travel securely, with no danger of scratching the car, and no damage to my carbon fiber road bikes. I made two low-cost improvements: (1) a bolt through the upright so the hooks cannot be easily removed/stolen; (2) a thin line across the top of the angled bar so I know how far to slide it in to the hitch receptacle (depends on your particular hitch). 1196

Great bike rack! This bike rack is great. i would pay double the money for this. It is very easy to put together, and very easy to use day in and day out. The fact that this rack has more points of contact with your bike means that it is more stable; there is no bouncing around like other style bike racks. I highly reccomend the anti-rattle hitch lock kit.1040

Great bike rack I bought this rack a couple of weeks ago to transport my wife's and my road bikes. So far its been on a 4 hour round trip and numerous trips around town. The rack performs flawlessly and supports the bikes very well. Once you get it set up its extremely easy to use. You could spend 2-3 times more on other racks, but I doubt they would work much better. Definately recommend buying this rack.883

I LIKE MY RACK!!! I really like my rack! It's the most secure rack design for fast load and unloading of bikes. The ONLY improvement is the 'dogleg' bend it makes out of the hitch could be a couple inches higher to keep exhaust fumes and road gravel/debris from hitting the classic show bikes I carry. One of the decals on a very expensive bike wheel started to peel from the heat of the exhaust fumes out of my car's tail pipe. I've considered taking the rack to a welding shop to see if it can be raised. In the meantime I try to remember to keep the wheel decals rotated away from the exhaust pipe. VERY SATISFIED with the powdercoated fabrication, workmanship, and fit of the rack! 362

Great product, average design Overall it works very well. The unit is not a stable as I would like it to be. It bounces around more than others because of the 2" hitch adaptor not being a tight fit. The pins are sometimes hard to push in, but at least they are tight. It definetly gets the job done, but could be design stronger.125
