Great product, average design - Apr 11, 2007
by: Dave-O from Dallas, TX
Rating:
Overall it works very well. The unit is not a stable as I would like it to be. It bounces around more than others because of the 2" hitch adaptor not being a tight fit. The pins are sometimes hard to push in, but at least they are tight. It definetly gets the job done, but could be design stronger.

I LIKE MY RACK!!! - Aug 24, 2007
by: Tom Hailey III from Winston-Salem, NC
Rating:
I really like my rack! It's the most secure rack design for fast load and unloading of bikes. The ONLY improvement is the 'dogleg' bend it makes out of the hitch could be a couple inches higher to keep exhaust fumes and road gravel/debris from hitting the classic show bikes I carry. One of the decals on a very expensive bike wheel started to peel from the heat of the exhaust fumes out of my car's tail pipe. I've considered taking the rack to a welding shop to see if it can be raised. In the meantime I try to remember to keep the wheel decals rotated away from the exhaust pipe.
VERY SATISFIED with the powdercoated fabrication, workmanship, and fit of the rack!

A bargain for the money - May 14, 2008

Was skeptical about this hitch but relied on the feedback to take the chance on it. This hitch is well worth the money. Saw one nearly identical in build with a different brand name at local bike shop for $249. Works great and is more stable than I'd expected.

Great bike rack - May 19, 2008
by: Chris M. from Decatur, IL
Rating:
I bought this rack a couple of weeks ago to transport my wife's and my road bikes. So far its been on a 4 hour round trip and numerous trips around town. The rack performs flawlessly and supports the bikes very well. Once you get it set up its extremely easy to use. You could spend 2-3 times more on other racks, but I doubt they would work much better. Definately recommend buying this rack.

What a great bike rack! A great experience start to finish: ordering was a breeze, great status emails along the way, fast delivery (at no charge), condition of order, and easy installation. Excellent instructions (who reads them anyway,it almost put itself together!) I had one small problem with a damaged Velcro strap and called customer service. They were great also. They answered, understood and resolved my problem in minutes. I will definitely be a return customer and can't wait to tell all my friends about y'all.

Great bike rack! - Jul 09, 2008
by: Chad from Franklin, TN
Rating:
This bike rack is great. i would pay double the money for this. It is very easy to put together, and very easy to use day in and day out. The fact that this rack has more points of contact with your bike means that it is more stable; there is no bouncing around like other style bike racks. I highly reccomend the anti-rattle hitch lock kit.

Great item. - Jul 14, 2008
by: Greg from Buena Vista, CO
Rating:
Very well made item. Attachment to hitch was very stable and it is very easy to place bikes onto the rack. There is very good ground clearance from the ground on relative steep inclines. In order to make bikes fit, you will have to experiment with placement of the rubberized frame hooks and once set, it will not be an issue. We took our bikes on a ride over very uneven rockyterrain and there was minimal movement of the rack and no rattles were detected. Great item!!

Sport Rack 2 bike carrier:
Minimal assembly required, instructions easy to read and straight forward.
Had it together and on vehicle in about 20 minutes, would have been less time if I didn’t take a couple
Cigar breaks. Love it carries my wife’s and my bike just fine with no rattles. The wife’s bike is a little
shorter and lower but the carrier has sufficient adjustability to even place granddaughters miniscule
bike on with just a few minor adjustments. When not in use it may be taken off and stored very convenient.

Easy to use, not very sturdy - Aug 11, 2008
by: Miss Kitty from Landisburg, PA

Product is easy to use but is somewhat difficult to adjust by yourself. Rack bounces and you will need a bike beam for the step through model of bike even though the add says you don't, you do. Velcro is very strong and worked well at keeping tires still and in brackets.

Well Engineered - May 16, 2009
by: Mike from Marshalltown, Iowa
Rating:
Extremely easy to set up and use. My wife and I both have Trek 7100 M&W. I read another post from Miss Kitty that said you have to have a beam for the step through bike. I didn't find that to be the case and was quite pleased with the adjustablity afforded by changing which holder goes on top. My business partner and I ordered 2 on a Monday and got them on Wednesday, I was very surprised and pleased at the immediate perosnalized e-mail responses from their customer service and shipping departments.

Very nicely done. Built it on my lunch break at work, and installed right there in the parking lot. Excellent size and fit for a '09 Subaru Forester. I really like the bolt-in effect that keeps the rack stable by snugging it against the receiver - my former rack did not fit so well. Fits my Specialized Allez Elite and my Trek 3700 no problems, and I have big frames on my bikes. Took my son's Rockhopper Comp as well. Bike fit is secure, with no wobble, and after loading two bikes, I gave it a good test zipping around town. The up-angle on the rack support also keeps the wheels away from the road when backing out the driveway, always a concern since we have a goodly slope down to meet the road.

Great way to carry bikes - Jul 09, 2009
by: Joe S. from Concord, CA

I purchased this carrier to carry two beach cruisers, fat tired bicycles, behind my VW Camper. Took them cross country from San Francisco to Key West and back, about 10,000 miles with no problems. A little bouncy but it performed well during the trip. Easy to remove and replace the bikes. I added some reflective tape and bought the two lock system to secure the bikes. Durable. Works Great!!!

Met every expectation and more - Jul 10, 2009

Love the way this rack carries our bikes with the wheels in tracks, rather than dangling them from a post. Especially since I've switched to a women's style bike, and don't have the crossbar from my previous 'mens' style bike. Easy use, easy installation, Bikes travel secure and steady. Met every expectation.

Good design but not sturdy - Jul 26, 2009
by: M.G from California
Rating:
Rack bounces over every little bump therefore the frame hooks won't stay tight. Since the upright post and the cross post on both wheel sides are all flimsy due to the pins in them. Light weight it is but need more thought to make it sturdy. I would NOT recommend this bike
rack.

Best bike rack ever - Aug 02, 2009
by: Paul from Tacoma, WA
Rating:
This is a far better rack than all the others I've ever owned. No need to remove wheels or to lift the bike up onto the cartop. Bikes are not exposed to wind and bugs and low clearances (garages) not a problem. I would rate it higher if I had not had to install a hitch in order to mount it.

Great! except.... - Aug 23, 2009
by: Russ G. from Vancouver, WA
Rating:
I've had the SportRack for two months now, and have been extremely happy until now. It is easy to use, secure, and eliminates the problem of the bikes rubbing together. But after about 6 trips I discovered that the rubber pads that come down on the bike's top tube had split, resulting in paint worn off to the metal on both bikes. I still highly recommend this, but if you get one, you HAVE to add padding. The rubber tubes should be reinforced so they will last.

Great Bike Rack - Aug 27, 2009
by: Juan from Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Awesome shopping experience with ETrailer. The SportsRack rocks a little bit but that is part of its design. It carries the bikes safely, it doesn't touch your car, it doesn't cover you rear window or tail lights. Very easy to install, very easy to load / unload the bikes. Getting the cable and lock for added safety is a must.

Excellent rack for the money - Sep 23, 2009
by: Coney from Nottingham, PA
Rating:
Products arrives unassembled. Easy to assemble though. Solid enough for a 1 1/4" rack to feel confident with. I ride both raod and mountain bikes and have not issues or concerns w/ the rack. The anti-rattle pin works perfectly. The center arm does swing out of the way, so you can open the rear dor to your cargo area, and the arms both fold up when not in use.
I do however, highly recommend the hitch and bike lock kit that goes to this rack. When I am not using the rack and leave it in the hitch, I fold up the arms and then run the cable lock through the wheel holders - now even the parts of the bike rack itself are secure and locked as well as the rack being locked to the vehicle.
