Today we are going to show you part number A30704FB from Sportrack and this is their Hitch and Drive Deluxe model. This is a bicycle rack that can work for 1-1/4 and 2-inch hitch receivers and it carries four bikes. First we are going to show you a couple of features of this bicycle rack. First off you can see it is in stored position. What you can do is pull this pin out and then flip it over and it is ready for service. If you want to use this 1-1/4 inch receiver hitch, all you have to do is just take off this bushing. This just presses on, so you just need a simple screwdriver and you just pry it right off. And then you can go ahead and use a 1-1/4 inch receiver from there.
We will go ahead and install this onto a typical two-inch receiver hitch. Now the bicycle rack installs via this bolt right here. It actually threads into the bicycle rack and bolts it to the hitch, so it definitely will not go anywhere. On the other side of the hitch bolt, there is a safety pin that goes on there. Next we can go ahead and show you the tilt option of this bicycle rack. It is pretty nice. You pull out the pin here and you can move it backward until it hits the stop. This feature allows you easy access to your tailgate or the back of your SUV. Next we will go ahead and install a bicycle and show you how it gets attached to the bicycle rack.
Put the bike onto the rack. This lid is adjustable up and down depending on the size frame you have. Now back on to the threads and spin it back down. What is also nice about this bicycle rack is that in the unit it comes with this locking knob. Basically what it does is you can tie down the last bike on the rack, and that way you cannot take off any other bikes behind it. And also, if you are only carrying one bike, you do not have to put it on the end, either. You could put it on one of the middle ones like we have here and then you could transfer the locking knob to that one, too, and it will work just the same. So you can transfer the locking knob to any one you want, especially if you are just doing one bike for the day. Tighten it up. And when you lock it, then you can spin the knob and it will not unthread. So that is locked. And again, what is nice about the cradles, also, is they have this rubber lining on both halves and also have the groove in the rubber lining where your cables run along, too. Again, the caps are also adjustable too, depending on the bike frame you have, from a really small frame up to a rather large frame. And there you have it for part number A30704FB from Sportrack, their Hitch and Drive Deluxe model.

the good: it's sturdy, and adjustable- you can choose where along the arm the bike holders go, and the angle. the bad: the hardware that the clamps screw into (the ones you use every time you put a bike on) are not stainless steel, or even coated. they will rust, and rust quickly. to me this is unacceptable- it's impractical to be removing the hitch every time you use it, and if you're spending a few hundred dollars on something that's going to be in the elements, rust should be taken into account. at least chrome plate the things. it also shakes around a lot in a 1-1/4" hitch. this may be normal, so i'm not sure if it should be considered a negative. it doesn't affect the sturdiness at all, but it is weird when the whole thing is shaking around; it doesn't inspire confidence.18529
