Shipping Specialetrailer.com's LED light kit for Tow Ready, Rola and Draw-Tite cargo carriers with integrated light brackets. This cargo carrier light kit features super bright 12 powerful LED's per light with the faceted mirror gleam reflector for a superior look.
LED Light kit for Draw-Tite and Rola Railed Cargo Carriers.
Light Kit Installation
Step 1
Mount rubber grommets on both sides of cargo carrier tray making sure grommets are seated securely.
Step 2
Press tail lamps into grommets until seated securely on both sides of carrier tray.
Step 3
Route plug with green wire under cargo carrier to the passenger side (right) and plug into cargo carrier tail lamp.
Route plug with yellow wire under cargo carrier to the driver side (left) and plug into cargo carrier tail lamp.
Step 4
With supplied cable ties, secure all wiring to the bottom of the cargo carrier.
Please note: With the off-set Y-harness, one wire lead (about 3' long) is run straight to a light, the other lead (about 6' long) is run along the back edge of the carrier before it curves up to the second light. On the 40101 and 59502 cargo carriers, the wires come up through the carriers' mesh floor to attach to the back of the lights. On the Tow Ready carriers 63153 and 63155, the tighter mesh floor is not large enough for the plug to pass through. Therefore run the wire leads under the platform to the lights, then up the front of the carrier and around to the back of the light. This also helps prevent the wires from getting pinched by the cargo. On vehicles where the 4-pole trailer connector is tucked under the vehicle, a 4-pole extension may be required to connect the two plugs. See 'related items.

Today we are going to show you the LED light kit for Draw-Tite, Pro Series, and Rola railed cargo carriers part number 98174LED. The light kits fit Rola carrier 59502 and 59507 and Pro Series carriers 63153 and 63155. There is also an incandescent light version of this kit and the installation procedure would be the same part number 20174. The lights feature 12 powerful LEDs with mirror gleam reflectors for a bright easy to see light. The LEDs are brighter than conventional lights and unlike conventional lights you will never have to replace a bulb. Now we are ready to install the light. 00:45
The first step is to install the grommets into the cargo carrier. On the backside of the grommet you will notice two rubber lips, here and here. Make sure you push the grommet all the way in so that it clears the second lip. Because the rubber grommet is designed to flex it may not stay in this position. However once you put the light in it should look like this. Again once properly installed the second lip should be all the way through on the back side. There may be some wiggle room but so long as that second lip is pushed all the way through on the back side the light will stay in. Repeat the same process for the grommet and light on the other side. 01:24
The next step is the wiring. We are going to start on the right hand or passenger side. Take the wiring harness and find the three prong connector that includes the green wire. You may want to apply some dielectric grease to help protect the contacts and keep moisture and dirt from building up inside. Next we will route the wiring underneath the cargo carrier and secure it with the included cable ties. Next we will take the harness end with the yellow wire and connect it to the driver or left hand side light. Again once we have the connection secured we will run our wire underneath the carrier and secure it with the cable ties. Use the rest of the cable ties to secure any slack in the harness. Once we have the wiring secure we will take a pair of cutters and snip off the excess on the cable ties. With the harness secured we are ready to mount the carrier in our hitch and connect the wiring harness. Now that we have the carrier installed and connected we are ready to test it out. We turned off the studio lights so that you can see the carrier lights a little better. First we will try running lights, brake lights, and turn signals. With a set of lights installed on your cargo carrier it will be much easier for other drivers to see it. There you have it for part number 98174LED.

I have mixed feelings about this product. The rubber gasket that goes around the light and literally holds the light onto the carrier is flimsy. I'd like to see a screw in package that holds this lights in the carrier and makes it more solid. Also the wiring harness is routed only one way and you can't really run the wires that you want to. Its like they wanted to use the shortest amount of wire in the package to save a few bucks in wire. It would just make it "look" better in my opinion if I could hide the wiring harness rather than having it exposed. 20945

Wiring harness must have been in the hot rinse cycle- its too short to make for a decent installation. You'll need to extend the wiring about 24". I would not buy another one of these.18144

Fit too loose In the Ask the expert question below, can you get replacement lights, the person stated that the light popped out and was just gone. I bought this kit to install on the Tow Ready Hitch Cargo Carrier – 63154. The lights fit loosely and fall out. I have them zip tied right now to hold them in. I don’t know how well that is going to work. Maybe there is an adhesive that may work. If I had to do this over again, I would have bought the lights that you hold in with screws. Otherwise, the kit was easy to install and the lights work fine.3744

Was a little upset with fitment, plug would hardly go in to light and right now its fitting well enough to have the light work, but found it odd that one would fit fine, and one wouldn't. Black cord cover only covers first 12-16" of wires. Should cover all. Zip ties of good quality, but fitment of lights into gaskets could be tighter, but that may be the bracket i bought seperately, not the gasket... Cords definitely not long enough. I put this kit on a folding hitch basket (albeit not the recommended mfr, and had to add brackets to mine) but if you don't want the cords running diagonally across the basket you will have to splice. I did, and added black conduit, and it works fine. Set out looking for a folding hitch basket that had lights, none did, so i made some mods to these kits, and it works great.20286

Yes you will need a trailer light extension. And the grommets/lights fit loose into the pro series (and possibly other racks) so I plan to seal with silicone along the edges to secure. Other than those two complaints that I knew before purchasing, the lights are very bright, and work as they are intended. I still recommend them- just be prepared for the short wires and loose fit. 29908

Installation was a breeze until the wiring was too short. I was a little unhappy that I had to go to the local Advance Auto Parts to get an extension.25621

High quality construction and assembled easily. My only complaint is the same others have mentioned, the wiring harness is too short. You really have to stretch it to make it fit.20993

Easy installation. Passenger side wiring length was ample, but driver side wiring was a little short. In the end, everything worked out OK. Must pay close attention to routing of driver side wiring. Nice lighting kit.12477

LED Lights Shine Bright Nice package makes tail light installation for a Tow Ready cargo carrier a snap. Definitely needed to allow drivers behind to see your brake lights when carrying cargo or to see the carrier when empty. Instructions easy to follow, but drivers side wire is a bit short but was able to make it work. Dressed it up with a bit of wire loom to make it look professional. You will need the extension wiring as you can't route the wiring along the main bar and then to the vehicle plug. Light wiring plugs do stick into the cargo area a bit much.2601
