- To program the remote, hitch the trailer to the tow vehicle and plug the cable from the power module (control box) into the trailer connector on the vehicle. Make sure that the trailer is NOT plugged into the control box. Start the engine, and plug the remote into a 12-volt power socket or cigarette lighter socket.
