Proportional Braking

The Prodigy RF electric brake controller supplies power to your tow vehicle's brakes proportionally. This means that your trailer will brake at the same time and with the same strength as your vehicle - even when in reverse gear. So, if you have to slam on your truck's brakes, the trailer's brakes will respond instantly with no delay. Thus your vehicle's brakes won't be overworked from trying to stop the entire load, resulting in less wear and tear. The Prodigy RF also cuts power to the trailer's brakes when your vehicle is stopped - extending the life of the magnets and brake shoes in the brake assemblies.

Wireless, Radio Frequency Transmission for Portability

The Prodigy RF is perfect for anyone who has multiple tow vehicles or a vehicle with multiplex wiring. Installation is quick and easy. There's no hardwiring necessary - just plug the 7-way lead on the control module into your vehicle's 7-way connector so that the braking signal can be transmitted, and then mount the module to the tongue or frame of your trailer. Then plug the remote control into your vehicle's standard 12-volt accessory outlet and use it to control the module wirelessly.

Because you don't have to wire the Prodigy RF into your vehicle, the trailer that you mount the module to can be easily shared among multiple tow vehicles. As long as your vehicle has a 7-way connector, you can use the Prodigy RF. This system is compatible with vehicles that have multiplex wiring systems precisely because it does not wire into your vehicle.

If your vehicle does not have a 7-way connector, see etrailer.com's exclusive 7- and 4-way brake-control installation kit (ETBC7 - sold separately), which includes all the parts necessary to convert your 4-way into a 7-way. If your vehicle does not have a 4-way flat connector installed, you can purchase a custom-fit T-One connector.

Note: For vehicles without brake-control wiring adapters, one of the following is required:

20-Amp circuit breaker (9506P - sold separately) for 2- to 4-brake applications

30-Amp circuit breaker (38630 - sold separately) for 6- to 8-brake applications

Power Boost for Heavy-Duty Towing

Aside from smoother, more efficient braking, the Prodigy RF also offers a boost feature that gives you more initial braking power for those times when you're towing heavier loads. The boost setting sends either 13 or 25 percent more power (depending on which setting you choose) back to the trailer brakes, thus compensating for heavier loads. As a result, your fully loaded rig will brake smoothly and comfortably.

Perfect for multiple tow rigs Works as well as the Prodigy we all know and love, except wireless. People who are concerned about interferance with the wireless aspect of this unit put your mind at ease. Even if this happens (which is about as likely as me winning the lotto) the controller will still function on its last setting. This is a great choice if you have more than one tow rig.3167

  • Is a 2003 Fleetwood Bounder Pre-wired for an Electric Brake Controller
  • Yes. Based on the research I did on the 2003 Fleetwood Bounder RV, they are wired with a 7-Way connection at the rear of the RV. Fleetwood recommend the use of a supplemental brake controller when towing another vehicle. When towing a trailer equipped with electric brakes, you can use an electric brake controller, like the Tekonsha Prodigy, # 90185.
