The P3 controller is designed for use with electric and/or electric over hydraulic trailer braking systems. A simple switch on the unit allows the user to toggle back and forth between the two systems. The Tekonsha P3's LCD display features a distinctive look with multiple color and contrast options and includes a highly advanced, easy-to-understand roadside diagnostics display. The P3 advanced diagnostics not only notify you of potential problems, it can tell you where to begin trouble shooting.

Installed in my 2007 F150 a wink. I removed the progressive controller that I had paid to have installed, and attached this proportional P3 without problem using the connector that came with the kit. Obviously, I wish I had done my homework up front. I had told an RV shop to install a suitable controller. When I got my trailer, they ran it around the yard to make controller settings. Came back and told me it had to be set to the highest setting. I said that sounded like there was a poor match. As I drove home, I couldnt feel contact with the trailer. Then I read carefully on the web about the differences between progressive and proportional controllers, and with more research in the forums decided on the P3. Just got back from my first trip. I quickly established suitable settings. And worked the manual lever many times with firm, clear responses from the trailer. The P3 came on time. In fact, a bit earlier than the ETA. All my contacts with Etrailer have been very good, including a pre-purchase phone call. Hope this review is helpful.19365

Ease of installation - novice level - 20 minutes - basic tools. Multifunctional for both electric and hydraulic systems. Can be set-up for any trailer you hook to by just the touch of a few buttons. Leveling Tekonsha P3
The Tekonsha P3 can be mounted anywhere between -90 degrees (straight down) and 90 degrees (straight up), so having it tipped for easier viewing should not present any problem. Just make sure the unit is parallel to the direction of travel as shown in the instructions, and you will be fine.

Wiring a 2006 Ford E-450 Cutaway Cube Van for Towing with an Electric Brake Controller

Factory Brake Controller Port Location on a 2003 Ford Explorer
The Tekonsha Wiring Harness, part # 3035-P is the correct harness for a 2003 Ford Explorer with a factory tow package with a 7-Way trailer connector. The # 3035-P harness will plug into the factory brake controller port located behind the glove box.
