The P3 controller is designed for use with electric and/or electric over hydraulic trailer braking systems. A simple switch on the unit allows the user to toggle back and forth between the two systems. The Tekonsha P3's LCD display features a distinctive look with multiple color and contrast options and includes a highly advanced, easy-to-understand roadside diagnostics display. The P3 advanced diagnostics not only notify you of potential problems, it can tell you where to begin trouble shooting.

Installation:

The vehicle specific adapter has one end that plugs into the back of the brake controller while the other end plugs into the port located under the dash.
Note: If your vehicle has a factory installed hitch and 7-way connector, then all of the wires for the brake controller have already been run. If not, additional parts will be required to complete the installation of the brake controller.

• Are Any Parts Other than a Controller and Harness Need for Installation on a 1997 Dodge Ram Tow Pack
  
• All you should need is the brake controller and the harness, part # 90195-3020P. I have added links the instructions for both the controller and the harness below as well as a video of the same parts being installed on a 1999 Dodge Ram. I would double check to be sure that brake controller port is there, especially if it is a used truck. We have run across some customers who purchased used trucks and for whatever reason the previous owner cut off the port.
