Tekonsha introduces Prodigy, one of the most advanced and intelligent approaches to trailer brake controls. Prodigy, requiring no manual leveling, is a technological breakthrough among inertia-activated brake controls. Equipped with a self-adjusting sensing device similar to the one used in guided-missile technology to allow for easy, flexible installation - from nearly horizontal to nearly vertical - the Tekonsha Prodigy constantly adjusts itself to the position of the tow vehicle.
The vehicle specific adapter has one end that plugs into the back of the brake controller while the other end plugs into the port in the black box located under the dash.
Note: If your vehicle has a factory installed hitch and 7-way connector, then all of the wires for the brake controller have already been run. If not, additional parts will be required to complete the installation of the brake controller.

Today on this 2005 Chevrolet HD 2500 we are going to install part number 90185 the Prodigy brake controller and then the adapter cord for it part number 3015-P. The first thing we need to do is get underneath the dash and pull up the access cover to the panel. That is to the left of the brake pedal itself. Take off this panel right here, undo this nut. There is a series of sockets up here and we want the one that is second from the left and we will plug our adapter cord into that. That just snaps into position. Put our cord out of the way and then we will put our cover back into place. 00:47
We will leave that alone for now and we will take our mounting bracket and we are going to attach it to this metal part right here. In this case we are going to actually use the plastic pocket for it and we are just going to use a couple of these holes on the back side and attach it to the metal framing right here. Then we are going to use a couple of self tapping screws that we outsourced from the local hardware store instead of the hardware that came with the kit. 01:19
We have got that attached. Now we will run our cable through the back of it and then we will plug our brake controller into it and it will snap into the back of the Prodigy and just pop it into place. The next thing we need to do is zip tie our wires up out of the way. The next thing we are going to do is try it out on our trailer. You can see that we have it plugged in and our brake controller already found the trailer. It is showing a C for connection. 02:05
We will run through the functions real fast. The bottom lever is the manual override. This is our gain control that determines how much power is going out. All the way back towards you is 0 and all the way towards the front of the vehicle is full power. Then we will do our boost button here. Boost one, b1, and then we have boost two, b2, and boost three,b3. Basically the boost settings, what they do, is set a certain amount of power to the trailer so you can feel them working first, usually about one second after we start working then it reverts back to proportional mode. There you have it for part number 90185-3015P from Tekonsha.

Good service & updates I ordered a Tekonsha brake controller at eTrailer and found the whole process to be very easy to work through with good customer service. I found the part, watched an installation video, ordered the brake controller and received regular updates on the shipping of my order. I received the parts on the date promised - all in good order. All for the best price that I could find. What more could I ask for? Thanks for doing this stuff the right way. 1591

The hardest part to this installation was drilling the pilot hole for the mounting screws after that it was just plugging in the connectors. A great video to see how it was done. Thanks I highly recommend this product.21979
