Today on our 2011 Toyota Camry Hybrid we will be installing part number 36416 by Draw-Tite. This will also be comparable to Hidden Hitch part number 90152. Here are some measurements to be aware of when ing a drawbar, bike rack or cargo carrier for your new hitch. From the center of the hitch pin to the outer most point of the rear bumper is 4-1/2 inches. And from the top of the receiver tube to the ground is 9-1/2 inches. Now let us go ahead and do the installation of the hitch. 0:37
Our first step is going to be to remove the spare tire of the vehicle. Remove the spare tire jack assembly. And now we can remove the spare tire. Now that we have gained access to the trunk pan, we are going to go ahead and raise the vehicle up and remove some components before we can begin the installation of our new hitch. We have four fascia tabs that will have to be removed and then multiple hold downs for the trunk pan and trim that will have to be removed prior to the installation of our new hitch. We will be removing this and it will stay off of the vehicle and returned to the customer. We will go ahead and remove the trim on the passenger side. Now that we have our trim pieces out of the way, we are going to need to lower the exhaust for the installation of our new hitch. I like to use a little spray lubricant on the three rubber hangers that we will be removing. 2:07
Now that we have our exhaust loose, we are going to go back over to the driver side. There is this support bracket with three fasteners that will have to be removed. This bracket will be let off the vehicle and replace by the new hitch. These are our two connections points on the driver side. They will be identical over here on the passenger side. And now that we have all of our items removed, what I want to do is make sure these holes are cleaned. So I am going to go ahead and use some lubricant and a nylon tube brush, part number 814092. And I always recommend using one of the new bolts to check your threads before trying to install your new hitch. Keep in mind that we are going to be trying to sneak our hitch in between our bumper fascia and the trunk pan. So it would be a good idea to have a second set of hands to help you raise that in to position. 3:09
We are going to be using our 10 millimeter bolts and conical tooth washers. The teeth of the washer will face the hitch. And at this time we are just going to be hand tightening all of our bolts until we get all of them in, lined up and fastened securely. Now that I have my four rear fasteners finger tight and my hitch is aligned in the center of the vehicle, I can go ahead and tighten them down. I am going to repeat the same process, on the passenger side, of hand tightening my bolts. And then we are going to torque all four bolts to specification. We are going to repeat the same process on the passenger side. Now that we have our four rear fasteners secured and tightened to specifications, we need to drill out our trunk pan holes here. The reason for removing the spare tire was so we do not puncture anything as we make our new holes. Go ahead and drill our holes out now. 4:04
Now that we have got our holes drilled out, we are going to get back in to the trunk pan. You can see our new holes here that we have drilled in to the trunk pan. We are going to use that to install our block and bolt. Now you can see a coating here in the base of the vehicle. What we want is a metal to metal contact surface. So what we are going to do is mark out our block and then we are going to clean this coating off so that we get a good contact for our block with a metal to metal surface. Now that we have the undercoating taken care of, we can go ahead and put our bolt and block back in place. Now that we have our bolt and block in place, we are going to get back under the vehicle and install our lock washer and nut. Now that we have everything hand tightened, we can go ahead and torque down to specifications. Now that we have all of our fasteners torqued to specifications, we can reinstall our bumper fascia tabs and our exhaust hangers and we will be in the home stretch of the installation of our new hitch. That completes the installation of our hitch, part number 36416.

I decided to install a hitch on my car because my trunk mounted bike rack has scratched or caused my bikes to scratch my car several times. I purchased a Yakima Highlite 3 hitch mounted bike rack which I will be using to transport my bikes. Product arrived very quickly although the box had two rather large holes on both ends and one washer was lying in the bottom of the box; I believe that was from UPS but I’m not 100% positive. I inventoried the parts prior to installation and nothing was missing. Prior to installation I reviewed the installation video then I installed the hitch on my 2010 Camry SE. I backed my rear wheels up on four 3 inch bricks (yes I know its very ghetto but I was too lazy to get my jack/stands out from my garage, lol) and believe it or not it was all the clearance I needed to lower my exhaust and complete the installation and I’m a pretty big guy. Granted I did need an extra hand supporting the hitch to get the first bolt in and also while I tightened the bracing bars underneath the spare tire well. NOTE: The Camry SE model has a black plastic cover under the tire well that needs to be removed prior to installation that cannot be used once the hitch is in place. I guess if you did some trimming it “could” be reinstalled but I really don’t see a reason why this should be done. I’ll probably get some type of rust resistant paint to spray over the bolt ends since they’ll be exposed to the elements. From start to finish it took me about 1 and half hours. If you’re mechanically inclined don’t pay anyone to install, do it yourself. Would I recommend this product: YES. Would I recommend purchase from etrailer.com: YES. 19048

Ordered hitch on Thursday before the 4th of July holiday weekend and had the hitch Tuesday morning. Free shipping and had the hitch in two business days. Awesome. Installed the hitch already and the fit on my car was perfect. Took about 1 hour. 18985

My hitch arrived quickly, but the box was a bit damaged. All the parts and instructions were securely taped to the hitch itself, and none of them were damaged. I chose this hitch and this company because of the very helpful video that accompanied the description of the hitch. The price was also right along with the free shipping. I also figured that I could put the hitch on myself. I have never used a torque wrench nor drilled through metal before, but that proved to be no problem at all. I was able to install the hitch by myself. I did it with the back wheels of the Camry on the edge of my garage. The approach to my garage slopes down, so there was enough room for me to get under the car to install the hitch. In order to hold the hitch in place to bolt it to the car, I used 2 jack stands. They held the hitch very well. I am so happy to have done this myself and was able to save lots of time and money. 21360

Very satisfied with this product. It hides well under the bumper, about 80%. It took about 1 1/2 hour to install with one person. It would have been helpful to know that the two grommets that need to be removed are under the bumper. Also, with a good socket wrench, I did not have to lower the exhaust. 14848

Not solid bought one of these and mounted it on my 07 Camry. Not solid. The arms that go forward of the hitch attach to the thin sheet metal of the spare tire well in the trunk. Lots of flexing, even with just my bike rack on the hitch. Am sorry I bought this design.3046

Sturdy hitch but requires some I chose this hitch because of the 2 lateral bars that also get fastened under the spare tire. This significantly increases the stability of the load (in my mind) because of the (lack of) leverage placed on the mounting points right at the hitch. BUT it required me to carefully cut the plastic wind fairing underneath the car. Perhaps you need to do this for any of the hitches out there. There are a few to choose from, and this one was the only one w/ the lateral bars that I saw... Also, the engineer in me beefed up the mounting bolts w/ fender washers, followed by larger fender washers so any flexing wouldn't eventually break the trunk floor metal. So far, so good, and I've put a large carrying rack on the back with bikes, a ten man tent and camping chairs. No problem.2115

Beware on a Lexus ES 350 Remove facia rivets (two on Lexus) Brackets that hold the rivets will have to be bent back against rear end panel or hitch will not work. You guessed it rivets can not be installed however hitch holds facia in place. They tell you to remove a bracket as shown in Fiqure 2 on the divers side --- also one on passenger side --- Lexus has dual exhaust... As you can see documentation not the best when using on a Lexus 2112
