Video of Hidden Hitch Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2"
Videos are provided as a guide only. Refer to manufacturer
installation instructions and specs for complete information.
Today we are going to be installing hitch part number 87717 on a 2007 Chrysler Town and County without Stow-and-Go seating. We are underneath the vehicle now, looking at the drivers side frame rail, and we are going to go ahead and point out the mounting locations for the trailer hitch. The first thing we want to do is remove this rearmost bolt that is going to provide the rearmost attaching point for the hitch. We are also going to use a carriage bolt and block, and it down through this hole here, making for the second attaching point. And then this route hole down here, forward in the frame, that will be the third attaching point. And again, we will be ping a carriage bolt and a block into the frame for that position. So the first thing we want to do is to go ahead and remove the rearmost bolt on both sides of the frame.
With the rear bolts removed from the frame, we want to go ahead and start to fish our carriage bolts and blocks into the frame. Again, we are going to be fishing into this location here as well as this location here. The instructions tell you to go ahead and try to fish the carriage bolts and blocks into the frame through either this access hole or this access hole, which neither one of them is large enough to actually get the bolts into the frame. An easier way to do it would actually be to fish your fish wire, which is provided in the installation kit, and you are going to take that through the hole that you are going into, and you can actually fish it all the way to the end of the frame here. There is a hole there that you can feed the fish wire through, and the blocks and bolts will go in there as well. That will make for the installation to be a lot easier. But you do want to make sure that when you thread the bolts and the block on to hold this end as well so it does not pull through the frame. And I am just going to go ahead and pull that through. There is a little bit of a rubber tab in there that may be interfering a little bit, but that can be pushed in or outward enough to get the block and the carriage bolt into the frame there.
Now, one thing I do want to point out here is that you can go ahead and loosen this bolt down just a little bit as you can see, when you are going to pull it through the frame, it gets caught up on that bolt there. So just loosening it down a little bit will give you enough clearance for the bolt and the block to pull through. You definitely do not want to pull the bolt all the way out, because doing that will misalign the weld nuts inside the frame. And there we go. I am going to go ahead and fish it through again through this access hole, and that will provide the second mounting location. You want to make sure that when you do put the bolt and the block into position that the bolt is lying lengthwise into the frame. Otherwise it will interfere with the proper location of the bolt. And once those two are fished in, we can go ahead and re-tighten this bolt up. And then we just want to go ahead and do the same thing for the other side of the vehicle, as well. With the carriage bolts into place, we can go ahead and put the hitch up into position.
You do want to be sure when you are putting the hitch up that you do not knock the carriage bolts back into the frame. We are going to go ahead and just tighten our bolts down now, and then we are going to go back through and torque them down. And now we are going to go back through and torque down our bolts to the specified torque ratings, which are listed in the directions. This will conclude the installation of hitch part number 87717 on a 2007 Chrysler Town and County without Stow-and-Go seating.

Between the excellent engineering and the video installation advice, this was the easiest hitch and light installation. I have camped and towed my whole life with cars as well as motorcycles. This was the easiest install ever. I am thinking about putting hitches on all of my vehicles.11925

Looks Great! Fishing Looks great on 2001 T&C Lx. Had some difficulty fishing the bolts back through because of some hard plastic flaps at the end of the frame. They are not rubber like the installation video states. On the right side, I was able to bend the plastic flap back and pull the bolts(2) through. On the left side there was less room to work. I was able to push the bolts through the hard plastic flap at the bottom gap. All this is by feel also. Using it for cargo and bike racks mostly. Product shipped promptly and arrived in box with directions in great shape. Happy with product and etrailer.1977

Saved my Caravan Great product very easy to instal and looked fantastic. The best part is my wife was rear ended and the hitch took most of the damage (saved about $3000.00 in repair cost).Though the hitch didn't survive, my van did and I have ordered the exact one to replace it.. Thank you Hidden hitch.. I would recommend this hitch to any one looking for one. 1969

Excellent hitch I just installed the hitch today. I ordered the hitch on the phone and received it 2 days later. The hitch is very good quality and everything was just as advertised. It took me about 3 hours from start to finish but most of the time was preparing to mount the hitch. I did not have any access point on the frame, so I had to enlarge one of the oval holes on each side by filing them, (a small grinding wheel on a drill would be much better). Then I could not get the existing bumper bolts out with a hand socket,(it takes an 18mm metric). I had to borrow an impact wrench from a neighbor and keep spraying PB Blaster on the bolts and running them in and out until I finally was able to remove them. Once I had everything ready it took less than 30 minutes to insert the bolts, lift up the hitch and attach it to the van. The hitch fit perfectly with all of the holes lining up and looks really good on the van. The only thing that shows is the receiver. I would highly recommend this hitch1830

Great Hitch...Fast shipping,,, READ ALL DIRECTIONS FIRST!!!!! I'm a guy.......... who reads the directions.... Well, read them ALL and watch the installation video. Then put your hitch on. Spray rusted bolts prior to removing and wear eye protectors! Love the hitch,,, really performed GREAT. Wiring harness was a breeze... I took a little extra time and really hid all the wires. Also installed Airshocks for the rear... very wise thing to do, would not have made the trip to the cabin with the quads otherwise!!!!! 1430

Awesome hitch A+ You can't find a better hitch for you minivan than this one. It carries more weight than the van can tow and it looks great. The only part of the hitch you see is the reciever tube. The cross bar is hidden by the bumper which was a must for me. Fairly easy to install, but my old bolts broke off because they were rusty. Etrailer.com prices are unbeatable on hitch. Very happy325

I have used Hidden Hitch products in the past with great success and this unit is no exception. Quality build, quality finish and as usual from eTrailer, super shipping speeds. Only challenging thing with this hitch is fishing the bolts through the frame as you may need to grind out the openings in order to get the bolts inside the frame rails. A drill with a extra hard grinding stone makes quick work of enlarging the holes. Fishing the bolts through is quite easy due to the included 'fishing wires' and the wiring harness (05 Chrysler Town n Country) was quite simply, the easiest wiring package I've ever encountered.26034

Had very little trouble installing hitch, drilled two holes for the forward bolts, the bolt fisher wire is GREAT. When I got to the wiring on the right side. I ran a rod down from the top hole for the wires to the bottom past the insulation, etc, then taped the wire to the rod and pulled it up, had no trouble with the left side, no wires are showing, any where in the installion. neat job. Think I did a great job for a 85 year old. No speed records here.25436

The hitch itself is great quality and I received it amazingly quickly. However, I ordered one for a 99 Town and Country minivan that was supposed to just bolt on and the product I received was "bolt-on" for 2001 and later. So I had to drill and tap new holes, "which is always fun", he said sarcastically. Still, it works great and I am having fun pulling my boat.23884

I just finished installing this in my 06 Caravan by myself. The hardest part was fishing the wire through the frame, especially the bolts towards the front of the car. Just be careful when threading the front holes because the wire is just barely long enough to reach. A second pair of hands is great but is not needed. Just be careful to hold it so it doesn't fall on your face when trying to screw it in.21669

Great service from etrailer. The hitch was on my front porch quicker than the local parts store could have gotten it for me -- and the price was a few bucks better. The Hidden Hitch is not quite as well finished as some other brands I have used -- there are some weld splatters and some thin spots in the paint -- but it fits well enough and should work just fine. 20637

This is my review, I have to say that wire where you thead bolt is good idea, however I did have some difficultly with the middle bolt hole, I had to take a piece of steel same thickness as the hitch, overlay to coommadate the thread hole that is in the frame of van. Straddled metal piece from 1st hole to middle threaded hole and bolted to the middle threaded hole to van frame. This solved my problem ran bolts in all 6 holes. Sinerely John P19546

Great hitch. Install took me 45 minutes. Mostly to get the old bolts off. Used a long 2 feet plus socket wrench to remove. I sprayed them with liquid wrench for 3 nights/days while I was waiting for shipment. Move steadly and it sholdn't snap. Rust was equivalent to 8 winters in michigan salt. 18519

Trailer hitch is good. The install didn't go as easy as hoped. Two of the holes fit on our 99 Dodge Grand Caravan but the third (toward the front of the vehicle) was no where close to an access hole. It was easier just to remove the bumper to do this installation and we did that almost immediately once looking at it. Plan to use it for bike carrier mostly.17627

The hitch was a little bit tight on one of the bolts at the muffler side of the van, other than that it fit perfectly. very good quality. It took me about 3 hrs to install though. I had problems removing the bolts from the van as they were a bit rusted, also it took me a while to fish the bolts through the little spaces; the video on the website was very usefull for the installation. I did not have to drill additional holes. I have a voyager model 2002. Im planning to use the hitch for bicycle transportation. Im very satisfied with the overall experience.10963

First time buyer This is the first time I have ever bought a trailer hitch, I usually make my own. The unit came within 3 or four days of my order, easy to install, but I did have to make two hole's in the frame larger. The whole job took about 20 min's. Price was right on target. Great job etrailer and thanks Roger 3993

Couldn't ask for better I am very pleased with this hitch - it really is hidden on my 2000 Grand Caravan, and it is easy to reach the receiver and pin hole. I found the video showing the installation to be invaluable. My only caveat is that the instructions said nothing about the fact that I had to drill the forward most bolt hole on both sides for this Class III hitch, but I would not have had that problem with the Class II. I probably still would have purchased the Class III, but some might not, so it would help to be up front about it. I don't think this is an issue with later models, as the third hole is factory installed. Also, I found the "20 minutes" of estimated installation time to be a bit optimistic. Perhaps a pro could do it that quickly on a lift, but I think an hour or 90 minutes might be more realistic for the average guy. Still, that is REALLY quick and very easy. The wire bolt puller/fish tape they give you worked like a charm for me. I would also advise getting or borrowing a calibrated torque wrench to ensure you have the required torque. That is called out in the written instructions, but not on the video, and it is an important precaution to take. Overall, I am very happy with this hitch and would recommend it to anyone.3224

Great-looking, unseen hitch. Very happy with the prompt delivery from etrailer, and the hitch arrived in perfect condition (no scratches in the paint). Since we have salty roads in the winter, I put a coat of Eastwood's Rust Encapsulator and a coat of Rustoleum enamel on it, just to keep it rust-free. Installation was a breeze. Like the way this hitch looks, with very little of the hitch bracket/tube visible from the back.2984

Good unit-needs more hardware My '00 Grand Voyager had the rearmost bolts (to be reused) rusted. PB blaster and heat did not prevent me from busting the weld nuts. Getting a shop to cut of wiht a torque wasn't a problem. But I had to wait for the plant to send me 2 more bolts, nuts, plates, washers to fish into place. Since any van that will use this hitch will likely have the same problem ('96-'04 vans), kit should come with 6 sets of fasteners. But the instructions are great, fish lines worked perfectly. Customer service put me in direct contact with the plant, and they helped me quickly. Don't be afraid of drilling holes. Just get the hitch in place in the existing holes, use a center punch, drill 1/4" starter, then finish with 1/2". Use sharp drill bits and wear gloves and goggles.2278
