Today on our 2012 Ford F-150, we're going to show you how to install Hidden Hitch, part number 87583. A quick note: You can lower the vehicle's spare tire to help make things easier, but we're not going to today. Next, we're going to show you the four attachment points that we're going to be using on the bumper brackets. We're going to show you everything on the driver's side and it's the exact same over on the passenger's side. We're going to use this lower bolt hole on the bumper bracket for our front facing attachment point on our hitch. The other attachment point is further up on the bracket.

It's this large circular hole here. In the hardware kit is a washer that's going to fill this void and you must make sure that it sits in place correctly when you go to tighten down your hardware. First, we'll show you all the hardware that we're going to use on these lower attachment points. We'll be using a bolt, two conical toothed washers and a nut. We'll take our bolt, slide the conical toothed washer on, and slide this assembly through the hitch and through the bumper bracket.

Make sure the teeth of the washer are facing the hitch. Once our bolt is through, we'll take a conical toothed washer and our nut and fit it over and tighten it down. Again, you want to make sure that the teeth are facing the bumper bracket. Ultimately, the hitch and bumper bracket should be sandwiched in between the conical toothed washers here. Next, we're going to go over the hardware for the upper attachment point.

We'll be using a bolt, another pair of conical toothed washers, a block, a flat washer, and a nut. We'll take our bolt and fit the first conical toothed washer over then we'll fit the block over. Next will come our round flat washer and this needs to fill the void on our bumper bracket. Then on the inside of the assembly, we'll take our conical toothed washer, again, with the teeth facing the hitch and our nut. Now, you may want to grab a second set of hands to help you hold the hitch up into position while you get your hardware started.

We'll hold our hitch up and feed our bolts to the lower attachment points and finger tighten the hardware on the back. With our lower hardware finger tight, we can go ahead and begin installing our upper hardware. We'll fit the bolt, conical toothed washer and block into position and, again, we'll make sure our flat round washer fills the void on our bumper bracket. We'll take our conical toothed washer and nut on the back and, again, finger tighten them down. With all of our hardware into place, we can begin tightening all the hardware down with our tools. Now that everything is tightened, the last thing we need to do is grab a torque wrench and torque all our fasteners down according to the instructions.
