Hitch arrived yesterday, installed it on my 2011 Ody after work in a little over 30 minutes. I didn't remove the exhaust from the hanger since there was enough room to install around it. The Videos and comments on site were very useful. I still need to purchase a longer bolt to put the driver side trim piece back under the back end. Its not needed but I will put it back anyway.15433

I couldn't have been more pleased with this trailer hitch for my 2004 Odyssey. The order arrived in just a few days ... well before I was expecting it. I never believe those estimates of how long it will take to install them, but this estimate of 30 minutes was actually about 10 minutes too long. 20 minutes from opeing the box to installed on the van. i opted for the American Flag plug that goes in the receiver, and it looks great!!11395

Great product. Easily install. Hardest part was finding the right size tap to clean out the threaded holes in the van frame. My 2004 Odyssey has been driven in the snow and the bolt holes needed to be tapped out. The hitch went on like butter after that. Great fit. I just bought a 2011 Routan and I think I am going to put a couple bolts in the holes that are already there for the hitch ...probably make putting a hitch on later all the much easier.17926

Easy to install - holes lined up perfectly. Defiantly clean up the bolt holes with a tap (M12x1.25 for 2005 Odyssey). I did have to unhook the rear tailpipe mount and a wheel-well ‘mud-flap’ to allow clearance for the tap handle to turn.17910

I own a 2010 Honda Odyssey EX-L. Ordered this hitch on 6/15/11 and received it in San Diego, CA on 6/22/11 ... shipping box was a little damaged. Tried to install the hitch out of the box, but both flangs were slightly bent inward ... the end slots (furthest away from the tube) were not in alignment with the mounting holes on the van so the bolts could not be installed. I called etrailer and they indicated that it was flexed out of alignment during shipping. They provided me with instructions on how to flex the flanges back into alignment ... the flexing process took about 20 minutes. Had to flex the flanges about 1/2" - 3/4". Once I did this, it installed with no problems. I rated this a 4 due to the extra work needed (i.e. 1st installation attempt and flexing). If not for the flexing, it installs in about 20 minutes ... no need to unhitch exaust pipe, use it as support during installation.17856

Great product. Perfect fit. I had to work hard at cleaning out the rust from the threaded holes on my Odeyssey (Northeast road salt eats metal). It took a bit longer than expected. TIP: I used several 1/2" wire plumbing brush normally used for cleaning the inside of copper pipes. I would recommend etrailer.com again and just placed another order for a new bike rack.17632

Construction of this product is excellent and I believe the round tube style provides a better appearance overall (for a van anyway). Hitch installation was almost too easy. I spent more time trying to locate the correct tap to clean the mounting holes on my 05 van because the M12 x 1.25 pitch thread is not very common. Ordered the tap and cleaned the holes within a few minutes and the hitch install took maybe 10 - 15 minutes. Do yourself a favor and order the tap. This will save you time and headaches. I would highly recommend both this hitch and the supplier. Delivery could not have been faster.17119

Excellent overall experience. VERY fast shipping. Very sturdy, well-built, no-nonsense hitch. Installation was fast - 20 minutes max - but clearing rust from the existing threads on the car frame may be a challenge, so here is a tip. If you are attaching to an undercarriage, like mine, which has gone through 11 years of Chicago winters and road salt, you can save yourself a whole days work by clearing the threads with a tap for about $8 (metric, 12 mm X 1.25). One or two passes with the right sized tap will clear out those old threads and make them work like new in minutes. Once that is done, installation is a snap.15752

Info on line and with hitch did not include any info on removal of dust shield on drivers side 2011 odyssey. Install would be better if bolt were tapered on end to make starting a little better. I used a motorcycle lift to raise hitch in position. Did not need to lower exhaust from hanger. Was neat where bolt package rode the shipment as box had large holes on arrival. Also think if holes were a little more elongated line up would be quicker. Took a hour to install15500

Hitch is great fit right on the van, as described. Packaging wasn't perfect, so hitch had paint chipped off in places and there were holes in the box. If this is something that bothers you, don't buy online. A little black rustoleum, and it's just fine. Hitch itself fit perfect, had a problem starting one bolt, not sure if it was the bolt, the car, or the installer (me) causing it. Installed in about 40 minutes solo - without removing exhaust hanger. Put bike rack on it, and have driven a bit. Haven't had it bottom out yet on several driveways, so it looks like it's a great fit. Thanks etrailer!!13882

Customer Service = AWESOME! Product = Once the holes were cleaned out on the 7 year old van, the hitch was installed in less than 15 minutes. I highly recommend purchasing a tap/thread cleaner to clean the existing nuts on the vehicle. Once I did that, the job was much easier. It took me all of 20 min to install and that includes putting cardboard on the ground to lie on and my 10 year old helping me. The only thing that was wrong was that the box had ruptured while in transit and there were a few small areas where the paint was chipped off. A can of rustoleum and 5 min in the sun was all it took to fix. I just ordered a hitch and the wiring kits for both the hitch that is already installed and the one I just ordered for my truck. I really like the videos they make it easy even for me.12835

Great service and fast delivery (2 days!) from etrailer - would absolutely buy from them again. This "Hidden Hitch" isn't hidden at all, but it will serve its purpose and an official Honda brand hitch would have cost twice as much. My 2006 Odyssey has been through several WI winters with salty roads, and the frame threads were already rusted really bad. I didn't have the right size tap (I think it is 12x1.25), so I spent almost 2 hours with wire brushes and various sprays so I could get to the point of having the bolts thread in without resistance. If I had to do it again, I would have gotten the tap even if I had to order it on-line and wait a week. Once the threads were clean and working properly, the actual installation only took 30 minutes. Moral of the story - if you live in the rust belt and don't have a new vehicle - GET A TAP FIRST! 12442

What a snap! It was a little tricky removing and then replacing what must be a new piece of trim behind the driver's side back wheel on the 2011s. Because the hitch frame lays against the car frame right next to where this new trim attaches, that part of the hitch prevents the trim from fitting flush against the car frame when it is reinstalled. As a result, the original screw that holds the trim in place is not long enough to reattach the trim. The problem was easily solved by purchasing a longer screw at Lowe's.12416

This is a great product! I bought one for my 2001 Odyssey, but had difficulty installing it on my own because the original bolts were so rusted. When I traded the 2001 one and upgrade to the 2011 Odyssey, it was a cinch to install. The video on your site was dead on! The only issue that I had was a piece of factory installed molding on the passenger side. It was extremely difficult to un-install and I would recommend removing the tire if you have mud flaps. But the actual install of the hitch was very simple!12350

I recently ordered a trailer hitch and wiring loom for my 2002 Honda Odyssey. I shopped around because I didn't want a clunky low hanging hitch. I ran across etrailer online; liked the the looks of their products and prices; and their installation videos convinced me that I could do the installation myself . I placed my order on a Wednesday and had it in my hands exactly 5 business days later. I was thrilled with the fit, finish and instructions (including torque settings). Etrailer really came through for me – the free shipping was great and they even upgraded me to 3-5 day shipping! I ordered this on a Thursday morning and it made it onto a UPS delivery vehicle by Friday morning – UPS messed up the delivery as they often do to me (no fault of etrailer.com) so I didn’t actually get it until Monday, but that’s still faster than it could’ve taken. This particular hitch is heavy – I probably could’ve used some help to make the installation easier, but I’m stubborn and I basically wrenched my back by lifting one side with my hands while attempting to lift the other side with my foot… Uhh no – don’t do that – use a jack instead. Also - I live in Illinois where the winters are harsh and the roads get salted all to heck so basically the fasteners didn’t want to go in without lubing and cleaning the weld nuts. Once you’ve got those fasteners in, wrench ‘em down and boom – you’re in business. I saw other reviews mention installation without lowering the exhaust. I’m not sure how that’s possible – I tried and failed to lift the hitch into position without lowering the exhaust. As the instruction video shows, it’s super easy to slip the hanger off the tailpipe and conversely to slip it back on afterwards. It took me almost an hour to do it but if I wouldve asked a friend for help, this can easily be done in < 30 minutes. 9453

Installed this hitch on a 2010 Honda Odyssey. Very easy to install and fit really well. I didn't have to lower the tailpipe, just angled the hitch around it to get it in place. As another reviewer had mentioned, the installation bolts are 19mm, not 18mm as stated in the instructions. I also installed the wiring adapter kit without any problems either. I wanted a trailer hitch for my 2010 Honda Odyssey for a small trailer or bike rack that would not drag when coming up my sloped driveway. Titus answered my call at etrailer.com and explained that the particular one he recommended would be the least obtrusive and least likely to drag coming up the driveway. I also ordered the electric connection kit. Installation was so smooth that you would think I was an expert. The hitch fitted just as custom as it was supposed to be. Even the instructions were selected specifically for my Honda Odyssey. The etrailer videos about hitch installation and electrical installation were so accurate you could have recorded my installations and it would have showed it to be just as smooth, easy, and trouble free. I could not believe it myself. Everything went as smoothly as the etrailer videos. If you look at the attached picture you can barely see the trailer hitch. If it weren't for the etrailer logo on it, you probably would not notice it at all. It is smooth, tight, and trouble free. I could not be more pleased with the service or the product I received. Part was received within three days of ordering, I only had trouble with lining up one of the six bolts securing the bumper. The hole was off 1/8 inch but managable. I mainly wanted to get the hitch on and will hook up wiring later. I didn't realized how much 49 lbs weighs, of course I am 72 and have to realize I am not that strong anymore.7473

Hidden Hitch Installed easily. Instructions say to lower the exhaust but there is no need to do that on our 2010 Odyssey since the exhaust hangs on rubber mounts. Just tuck the exhaust side in first and then lift the other side in place. One person can install by themselves. Product was delivered quickly and without hassle. 3958

Great Hitch! This hitch is great. Was able to install by myself in a 2011 Odyssey in about 20 minutes without having to lower the exhaust. Would have been even quicker with an extra set of hands. Used two jack stands to aid in holding it in place. Put the screws in and torqued to specs and that was it.3750

Why pay someone else to do it? I can't say enough about this hitch. I was looking for a hitch for our Odyssey to carry our bicycles and an etrailer rep suggested this one. Why anyone would pay someone else to install their hitch (assuming they are physically able to do so) I will never know. It could not have been easier. It is certainly a two-man job but only because of the hitch weight and size. My very young son helped me. 6 bolts is all it takes and they line up perfectly with the already tapped holes in the car. As others have suggested you can make the installation go much smoother by cleaning/derusting the holes. Just ask your local autoparts store for some spray. etrailer customer service is top notch. I ordered over the phone and they are great to work with. I had an issue with another product I purchased and they were superb at helping with the resolution (turned out to be my fault). Overall I couldn't be happier with my transaction and the end result. I now have a hitch on my van that can be used for many things. What took me so long buy it !!!3559

Excellent Product Hitch is a perfect fit for my 2003 Odyssey. Some installation suggestions: Use penetrating oil and tap out the frame's weld nuts (12mm x 1.25mm pitch tap) before trying to install the hitch. If you don't, you'll snap off a weld nut and then you'll be sorry. Also, I ran the trailer wiring through a small grommet in the trunk area, then through an existing T-slot in the bumper, and mounted the 4-wire flat plug in a small molded retainer designed for the plug. So I don't need to open the hatch, pull out the wiring, and close the hatch on the wires. The molded retainer should be available at any good automotive or farm supply store. 3486

One-man install in my driveway Didn't move the muffler but used it to hold the hitch up for the install. Get the hitch level and near the bolt holes to start. Then install all of the bolts loosely before you tighten them one at a time. One bolt took five times longer than the other five bolts combined. I got lucky on the weld nuts--no rust or corrosion but they did need some minor work w/WD40. 3471

Great look- easy install I got it fast and installed it just as quick. It's a little heavy but that's because it's a class 3. The holes lined up with the factory holes on the van and bolts went in easily. I had to move the exhaust over a bit but that was just a matter of sliding off a rubber bushing. If you don't have a threaded hitch pin, it may rattle a bit but a shim should fix that. It's looks great. I'm taking my kids to the beach for a bike ride next week. Highly recommended!3303

Easy installation I got this for our 2007 Odyssey mostly to mate with a Yakima bike rack. Installation was easy, took only 20 minutes. Like everyone else, I recommend cleaning out the welded nuts on the frame before you even try to mount it. Trim an old toothbrush so it's skinny enough, jam it in the holes, and twist it like you're unscrewing it. No problems. (I noticed most people that had problems with that were from the north, maybe something to do with the road salt from the winters?) NOTE: my unit said to use an 18mm wrench, but the bolts that shipped required a 19mm socket. Use a torque wrench (sears has some good cheap ones).3052

I'm very happy with this hitch Fit my 2005 Odyssey perfectly. Another reviewer mentioned the existing nuts on the chassis of the Honda that the bolts for the rack attach to are typically rusty. Mine were. The day before you attempt threading the bolts in, spray all 6 of the nuts threads with penetrating oil. Then be prepared to spend some more time the following day cleaning them out. I used a small wire brush typically used for cleaning and roughing up the inside of 1/2" copper plumbing fittings before sweating. You can pick them up at a hardware store for 99 cents. I just soaked the nut hole with penetrating oil and "threaded" the brush up and down a few times. I then doused the nut hole with penetrating oil to "rinse" out the rust and dirt. I could thread the bolts in all the way by hand with little effort when I was finished. Keep in mind...when "unthreading" or removing the wire brush from the nut holes...you need to twist in the same direction to remove as you did to insert the brush (clockwise). This seems counterintuitive. The bristles will expand if you twist counter clockwise on removal and make it very difficult to get out. 3032

Great solution for 06 Odyssey Got this mainly for a bike rack on an 06 Odyssey after seeing the $400+ cost for the Honda version, very happy with it so far. Installation: etrailer has great videos on youtube that show the installation on specific cars so you know what you're looking for. Mine was easy, might have gone in a little easier if I lowered the exhaust but didn't really need to, just guided the rack in over it. No issues with threads, hole alignment, anything else, it all went together just like it said it would. Pros: price was right, installation was easy (two people and a pair of ramps) Cons: you can see the giant black tubes under the bumper and "Hidden Hitch" decal which I thought was kind of amusing. Looks don't matter to me, but if they do to you, you probably need to spring for the Honda version.2668

Beware Rusty Nuts Installed this on 2005 Honda Odyssey, haven't had a chance to tow anything yet, but here is an IMPORTANT INSTALLATION TIP: The holes lined up great. BUT nuts welded into frame were so rusty inside that even after trying to clean them I broke two off (closest to the vehicle front) and had to drill and tap a couple holes anyway. SUGGESTION - Get the appropriate tap and use it to THOROUGHLY clean up the factory nuts BEFORE installing. (That would have saved me some grief, but overall I'm still happy with purchase)2083

Trailer Hitch The hitch fit the factory mounting holes exactly, and was easy to install. The only issue I have with it is the receiver tube is slightly oversize and the stinger with the ball rattles when it is installed. I made a .060 L-shaped shim and it is quiet now. No more rattles.1077

Hitch is very noisey for new!! The reciever has too much clearance in it, the stinger rattles and makes a lot of noise. I had to put .060 shim stock on the top and one side of the stinger to get the noise to an acceptable level. My stinger works fine in two other applications965

Installation is as simple as it gets with this hitch. I would suggest using a thread tap to clean out the weld nuts in the frame though. I started with a battery terminal brush, a bolt and some penetrating oil but it wasn't getting me anywhere fast. After three hours I hadn't even got one nut cleared. The next day I went out and found a tap in the right size and had all 6 cleared in about 10 minutes. You shouldn't need to move the exhaust much to fit the hitch in place either. I used the tail pipe to support the passenger side while I started a bolt in the driver's side to hang it from.25002

Great product. A suggestion is to have one of front holes elongated sideways so as to avoid the need to pry it to get the screw in. I had that problem and that took 15 minutes out of the 30 min it took me to install it. A word of advise ..never use rubber gloves with rotary tools. These are good for surgery.. Gino Rodz MD 24608

The hitch looks great but the instructions call for the wrong size wrench. Need 19 mm and not 18mm. My main gripe is that the instructions are silent as to whether or not you need a jack to install the hitch. I crawled under the car and there was no way that I could install the hitch without a jack or ramps to elevate the car which I don't have. My mechanic installed it for me no problem. Also, it is silent as to whether or not a socket wrench is good enough or whether or not you need an air wrench. 24278

Cons: Condition of the hitch was good except one end was protruding from the box - could do a better job of securing it in the box. Product arrived quickly. I did not need to disconnect the tail pipe hanger as the hitch slid up and over easy enough. However, the holes on either the hitch or the car were off by a tiny bit and no amount of wiggling, prying or hammering worked to line them up. I needed a few passes with a Dremel on one hole of the hitch before the threads on the fastener could line up enough with the frame to go in. 22366

Very easy install on a 2011 Honday Odyssey as I had expected after researching on eTrailers.com. It probably took me an hour, but I wasn't in a hurry. As other commented, I didn't find it necessary to detach the exhaust. . .was able to push it to the side with no problem at all. I saw a prior comment regarding the dust shield on the driver side of the vehicle that had to be removed. There are 2 plastic rivets and a small bolt on the bottom to remove. From the wheel well, there is another bolt and phillips head screw. A small offset screwdriver was needed to get the screw out. One other recommendation--if you plan to route the wiring via the factory grommet at the rear of the vehicle and down through the bumper, consider drilling a hole or other alteration in the bottom of the bumper before installing the hitch. 21906

I just put this hitch on tonight. First, a rave for etrailer. I ordered this Sunday night. By Monday morning before I woke up, I had three emails, the third of which informed me my order had shipped. It arrived Wednesday. Awesome. The second part is regarding installation. It took a little longer to thread the bolts (watch the installation video and you'll know what I'm talking about - and by the way, the videos etrailer offers on every product is also pretty awesome) but once that was done, putting the hitch on was very quick. And here is one more for you. The hitch is heavy, so easier done with two people. My neighbor, who has no vision but is a very handy guy, took one side and I took the other. Everything went in and was done at that point very quickly. So my point, if a guy that can't see can get it done, and all you have is two people each with at least a half a lick of sense then you too can install this hitch. And then you'll be proud of yourself and you can tell your friends you finally did something on your own. Buy it. 21776

The receiver and wiring kit arrived very promptly. Wiring kit was a snap to install and the video instruction was right on. The hidden hitch receiver took a little more work installing as the alignment of the bolt holes to the chassis holes was kind of tight. Took about 20 minutes of struggle to get it installed. That is the only reason I did not give this and "excellent" rating, otherwise everything was perfect20671

Great hitch. As always, great customer service. I received emails with status updates from ordering to delivery. I installed my hitch on a 2004 Odyssey. No need to removed the exhaust hanger. It was impossible to bolt it on without cleaning the bolt holes first with a M12x1.25 tap, don't waste the time with a "thread chaser" or "thread cleaner", I bought the tap for $12 at a local NAPA shop. After the holes were chased with the tap, installation was about 10 minutes. You may be able to find the part cheaper at other online vendors, but it is worth the customer service to buy here. 19583
