Today we are going to be installing hitch part number 87432 from Hidden Hitch on a 2007 Chrysler Pacifica. And this installation will also apply to Draw-Tite part number 75522. Looking underneath the vehicle, we are going to go ahead and point out the attaching points for the trailer hitch. As you can see, we have got the exhaust here in the way of accessing the frame rail, so the first step is going to be to lower the exhaust. And on models with dual exhausts, you are going to want to do it on both sides. Before you do lower the exhaust off of the rubber hangers, you are going to want to support the main cross tube of the exhaust, because once you remove the muffler the exhaust will want to fall down. If we do not support it, it will damage the exhaust system. I am just going to use a basic, old tow strap up here. Another way to lower the exhaust down, other than removing the muffler off of its hangers, would be to just go ahead and unbolt the bracket that is holding up both of the hangers as well - which is what I am going to do.
We are over here on the driver's side frame rail right now. On models that have the wiring harness here on the driver's side frame rail, you are going to want to go ahead and remove it first to get it out of the way. And that will be located in this area right here. This particular model does not have it, so I can go ahead and skip that step. You can see here at the end of the bumper bracket we have an existing bolt. We are going to go ahead and remove that from the frame rail, and that is going to provide our rearmost attaching point here at the bottom of the frame. And we are going to go ahead and fish wire some bolts in through existing holes. There is one right here, and we are also going to be using this hole and this hole, as well. We are going to be using this large access hole here to fish wire our bolts through and into position. So the first thing we are going to go ahead and do is we are going to go ahead and remove this bolt from both frame rails, and then we are going to go ahead put the hitch up into position. And then we will fish wire our bolts into place. I am going to go ahead and fish wire the carriage bolt and block into the hole at the bottom of the frame. To do that, we are going to go ahead and use the fish wire that came in the installation kit. And what we are going to do is simply feed it through the hole and up out our access hole here on the side of the frame. We are going to take the fish wire and feed it through the block, and then take the carriage bolt and wrap the fish wire around the threads. And then we will feed it through the access hole and pull it down into position. And we are going to do that for the access hole at the bottom of the frame on the other side, as well.
Okay, when we put the hitch up into position, we are going to make sure we go up and over the exhaust. I am first going to put the new 12-millimeter bolt into place - just get it started, enough to hold the hitch up. And then we need to put a flat washer in between the hitch and the frame over the top of the carriage bolt here. And then we can go ahead and put the conical-tooth washer and nut on the carriage bolt, as well. We want to use the same setup on both sides of the vehicle. Okay, with the fasteners in place, we want to go ahead and just hand tighten them enough to where the holes in the frame and the holes in the hitch align here on the side. We are going to go ahead and fish these two bolts into place. And, in order to do so, we are actually going to be using the access hole right here at the bottom of the bumper bracket. And what we are going to do, again, is take the similar carriage-bolt-and-block assembly that we used at the bottom of the frame here and fish them into place right here on the sides. On this attaching point we are just going to be using the lock washer and nut, and at this time we are just going to loosely install those. You do want to take care when removing your fish wire, because you are going to have to reuse it multiple times. And then we are going to repeat that procedure for the other side as well. Okay, with all the fasteners in place, we can go ahead and torque our bolts down now. We recommend starting with the two at the bottom of the frame and go ahead with the ones at the side of the frame last. Check with your directions to verify the appropriate torque rating for each individual bolt. And with the hitch torqued down, the only thing we have left to do is to put our exhaust back up into place, and our installation will be complete. And this will conclude the installation of part number 87432 on a 2007 Chrysler Pacifica.

The videos on the etrailer.com web site were instrumental, though I had to watch them several times as the video progressed from step to step quickly. I worked on my back with the rear of the car elevated on metal ramps. While I supported the exhaust pipes, they did not fall as warned on the video. In fact, the free hanging mufflers did not drop enough to slide the hitch into place on the frame. I had to hand pull one muffler down so the hitch would slide over it. I had my wife assist with positioning the hitch into position, but everything else I did myself. When moving the hitch into position on the frame, I put a nut on one of the half-inch bolts so that it did not get knocked into the frame while I focused on the other side. In the end it came out perfect. I'm very happy with the result and with the satisfaction of doing the installation myself.20140

This is the second hitch I ordered from etrailer.com and as before the hitch is great quality sold at a good price. etrailer.com excells at support online with top-quality, application specific installation videos and instructions. I also really appreciate the email contact throughout the entire ordering and shipping process-- I know just where everything stands. The only negative was that the box the hitch arrived in was busted up so the frame mounting ends of the hitch were sticking out. These had gotten banged up and the powder-coat had chipped off in several spots. Nothing a minute with a rattle-can of paint couldn't take of, but it's a shame that the top-quality anti-rust coating Hidden Hitch uses was compromised. The first hitch I odered was just fine, but it was shaped a bit different, and perhaps the box it was in was handeled better by UPS. etrailer remains my "go to" place for everything I need for towing/trailer parts.9086

Grab a six pack!! Get a lot of beer and about 4 hours time. I didn't have a lift so take that into consideration... But you half to remove the muffler first - just remove the two bolts. Second issue, is the hitch itself is very bulky to handle under the car. Fishing the bolts through is not hard but difficult at times. The attachments are almost all bolts and flat washers...like I said "Beer"!! End product is awesome and everything came like promised - service is excellent. Thank you eTrailer!!1285
