Today on this 2006 Chevrolet Uplander we are going to install part number 87410 from Hidden Hitch. This installation also applies to part number 75278 from Draw-Tite. Looking at the drivers side frame rail, you can see there are two existing holes right here, and there will be a third hole drilled right here. On the passenger side we are going to use these two existing bolt holes. The new hardware that comes with the hitch will replace these, and the exhaust bracket will get installed on the top of the hitch. It is also going to be the same story with the body support bracket too. :32
The threads on the drivers side have seen some miles, so, we are going to spray those down with WD-40 and take the factory bolts and just clean them out a little bit. Next, we are going to install the hitch on the bolts that we just cleaned out on the drivers side and also on the bolts we just took out on the passenger side. We are going to hang the hitch by those bolts and snug it down for now and we will use the hitch as a template to drill out our holes in the frame. 1:17
When you install the hitch on this particular model, you want to make sure the bolt hole on the hitch matches up with the bolt hole for our support bracket, that will help you center it up. Once you have it centered the way you want it, snug it down tight, and then we will start drilling. The next thing we are going to do is use a 1/ 2 inch bit and put it in the hitch just to mark the center, and then use a 1/ 4 bit to make a pilot hole and come back through with the 1/ 2 inch bit. This is going to be identical on both sides of the vehicle. What is going to happen next is this bolt is going to be threaded in from the bottom, so that means that this handle nut will need to be put inside the frame. There is an access hole we can use to install the handle nut, but we are going to change the handle nut to make it easier to get down closer to the hole in the frame. The design behind it is to take the handle, and bend it whichever way you want to get inside there. Now take your handle nut, and align it with the hole, so when you tighten it down it does not rotate and pull the handle inside the frame. We are going to repeat this same process back over on the drivers side. 2:41
Back on the passenger side, we are going to take the body stiffener bracket and thread it right to the factory nut. Next, what we are going to do is take out these two bolts, and reinstall the exhaust bracket. Now that we have all our bolts down, we will snug then down, then torque them down as specified in the instructions. With all our bolts torqued down that finishes our install of part number 87410 from Hidden Hitch. As for measurements, it looks like 13 1 /4 inches and from the center of the hitch pin to the edge of the bumper is about 6 inches.

light kit brake/signal wires backwards.kit for hitch had to drill and sales add said no drilling and 30 min install. 1st time installers can expect 45-60 minutes. have bought many kits and this was a quality kit w/a simple install.should have done more homework in the engineering dept. Still a great deal and quality kit.24264

The hitch receiver kit was well labeled and simple to install. It took me about two hours by the time I got my van up on ramps and located all the tools etc. drilling a hole in the frame is surprisingly easy if you have good drill bits (1/4 and 1/2 inch). It's not like drilling through 1/4" plate steel or anything. I had to spend some time locating a metric tap to clean out the weld nuts on the drivers side of the vehicle. The vehicle comes with them but since they're exposed to the elements the instructions should include this step. I tried to install without this step but I was only ruining the bolts. that's the only improvement I would make on the directions. I'm pretty sure I could install another one in about 20 minutes, having done it once. Still, surprisingly simple, all the parts you need, and good instructions. 21913

The product is fine, but installation takes longer than 30 minutes even for an experienced well equipped mechanic. I would recommend a caution note about weld nut cleaning in the instructions especially if you want to achieve the proper torque on the bolts. The instructions are very confusing with all of the different variations of the vehicles that are covered. I have a good deal of experience as a mechanic as well as a technical writer and I have installed three other hitches in the last two years and I had to re-read the instructions many times to decipher what they were trying to explain. The on-line tips an videos would have been useful had I looked at them before I finished the installation.21142

Went in like a charm. The directions for installation were clear and precise. It took less than 2 hours for completed install. I had a few concerns about the weight and wondered if welding was needed and my son assured me that it was stable ans secure. 18215

the hidden hitch and wiring harness were the correct ones for my Chevy venture. The production installation videos were a great assistance to give me an idea of how to properly install them with ease. I installed both in about 1 hour. I will recommend your company to anybody looking for trailer products. You will be the only company I deal with because of ease of getting information, ease in ordering and tracking and helpful installation info. Thanks again16043
