Atwood Trailer Coupler - 83000
Actuator has a heavy gauge stamped steel housing with a ball socket assembly. Breakaway mechanism sets and locks the trailer brakes in the event of tow vehicle/trailer separation. The unique pivot linkage permits a lightweight, more compact design. The electrodeposited enamel finish exceeds A.S.T.M. 96-hour salt-spray test requirements providing corrosion protection. The "Reverse Lock-Out" lever allows for easier backing up of trailer.

- Greasing the hitch ball with coupler grease, part # L10337, should definitely help. It will lubricate the moving parts around the ball and should allow the latch to operate more smoothly.
When coupling, make sure the trailer is all the way down on the ball. Check and make sure the jack is not touching the ground any longer. This will ensure that the coupler is seated all the way down on the ball.

- Usually on Atwood couplers, there is information on the top near the fill cap, and/or on the top in front of the latch. There could also be some on one of or both sides. Despite that, I can help you with the replacement parts you will need.
