Hidden Hitch Hitch Accessories - 80303

Both 2" and 1 1/4" cargo carriers or bike racks can be used with your Class II 1 1/4" hitch receiver with this adapter. Simple design makes it a snap to use. Much more economical solution than having to buy two bike racks or cargo carriers.

This adapter allows you to use your current hitch accessories in either a 2" or an 1-1/4" receiver hitch. This adapter is not to be used for towing.

  • Convert any class II 1-1/4" receiver to a 2" receiver
    • will not fit class I 1-1/4" receiver
  • Has black painted finish
  • Measures 6" long from pin hole to pin hole
  • Maximum Tongue Weight - 50 percent of the tongue weight shown on the rating sticker of your trailer hitch
  • Note: shank of hitch accessory (bike rack, etc.) cannot be more than 2-3/4" long from the center of the hitch pin hole to the end of the shank (end that slides into the hitch)
  • Requires hitch pins and clips, sold separately
    • Requires 5/8" pin for 2" receiver (PC3)
    • Requires 1/2" pin for 1-1/4" receiver (PC2)

Hidden Hitch Trailer Hitch Adapter for Class II Receivers Review

Video Transcript for Hidden Hitch Trailer Hitch Adapter for Class II Receivers Review

What this does is convert your 1 1/4 receiver hitch so you can use 2 inch receiver accessories. Well demonstrate how this works by using a 1 1/4 inch receiver hitch here. You really want to use a class II receiver hitch, a class I is no good as these accessories cut your weight capacity by half. For example if you have a 350 pound tongue weight hitch, the adapter bar will cut it down to 175 pounds. As you can see we already have it installed here, and your hitch is ready for any 2 inch accessory, for example cargo carriers and bicycle racks. That finishes it for part # 80303, the Hidden Hitch adapter bar.

Excellent tool for conversion. It also adds clearance between the end of the receiver and my bumper, a requirement for my car and bike rack.9941

  • Hitch Adapter for a 1-1/4 Inch Receiver on a 2009 Subaru Forrester
  • The Hitch Adapter 1-1/4 inch to 2 inch, part # 80303, can only be used with a Class II receiver. You will need to double-check the hitch on your Forester to be sure that it is a Class II hitch. Usually Class II hitches have a 3,500 pound capacity. If so, you can use the part # 80303. If not, and you have a Class I receiver, you can use the Hitch Adapter, part # HTAD. However, please be aware that in using an adapter you will reduce the tongue weight capacity of your hitch by 50 percent. That mea

  • How Can I Use My 2 Inch Bike Rack with my 1-1/4 Inch Hitch
  • We offer adapters so you can use the 2 inch bike rack with the 1 1/4 inch receiver hitch. The appropriate adapter for your hitch depends on what class it is. You can use part # HTAD if your hitch is a Class I or Class II and part # 80303 will only fit Class II. Please note, using either of these adapters will reduce your tongue weight capacity by 50 percent. If you have a Class I hitch with a 200 pound tongue weight capacity, using this adapter you will only be able to put 100 pounds of tongu

  • Use of Any Adapter Does Decrease the Hitch Tongue Weight Capacity by Half
  • You are experiencing a common dilemma. The use of any adapter does decrease the hitch tongue weight capacity by 50%. If your MKX Class II hitch offers a 350 lbs tongue weight capacity then with an adapter the bikes and rack combined cannot exceed 175 lbs. For most applications this would be sufficient but not knowing your bikes and how much they weight I cannot tell you for certain if this will work.Should you decide to go with an adapter we would recommend an anti rattle lock to secure the adap

  • Is The Hidden Hitch Adapter # 80303 The Shortest 1-1/4 to 2 Inch Hitch Adapter Available
  • The Hidden Hitch 1-1/4 Inch to 2 Inch Hitch Adapter, part # 80303, is our shortest adapter, but can only be used with a Class II receiver. If you have a Class I receiver, you will need part # HTAD. Part # 80303 will stick out about 1-1/4 inch less, than # HTAD. You can check the label on your hitch or send us the hitch number to find out if it is Class I or Class II. I am including a link to a FAQ page that will help describe the different classes of trailer hitches. Please note, using one

  • Why Class II Items Do Not Fit in Class I Receivers and Extenders Reduce Tongue Weight Capacity
  • The Hitch Adapter 1-1/4 inch to 2 inch Trailer Hitch Receiver (Class II Only), item # 80303, will not slide into a Class I receiver far enough for the hitch pin hole to line up with the hitch pin hole in the Class I hitch. The Class I hitch is designed with a stop so that Class II accessories, that could potentially overload the hitch or vehicle capacity, cannot be used. An adapter that is designed so that it extends the items added to the receiver farther away from the hitch , like a ball mo

  • Hitch Adapter Needed for a Class I Trailer Hitch
  • The Hitch Adapter 1-1/4 inch to 2 inch Trailer Hitch, item # 80303, has a longer shank on it so that it can not be installed in a lower capacity Class I hitch. Class I hitches have a stop inside the receiver to keep higher capacity Class II accessories from being installed in them, so they are not overloaded. The Hitch Adapter 1-1/4 to 2 inch Trailer Hitch Receiver, item # HTAD, is designed for use in both a 1-1/4 inch Class I and Class II hitch so it may work for your application. We have a

  • How to Determine the Hitch Class Size on a 2004 Subaru Forester for use with a Hitch Adapter
  • The easiest way to determine if you have a Class I or Class II OEM hitch, would be to contact a Subaru dealer or check your owners manual. If that does not work out, you will need to check out the hitch opening itself to see if there is a stop stamped into the hitch behind the hitch pin hole. If you have a Class I hitc,h there will be a stop designed into the opening, approximately 1-9/16 inches behind the center of the hitch pin hole, that will not allow a Class II accessory to line up with

  • How To Tell What Class Hitch I Have on My Toyota Matrix
  • There are a few ways to tell if you have a Class I hitch. Your hitch should have a sticker with the weight ratings, that indicate if it is a Class I hitch. A Class I hitch will have a maximum towing capacity of 2,000 lbs and a tongue weight capacity of 200 lbs. The other way to tell is, on a Class I hitch, there will be a small dent or punch in the receiver behind the hitch pin hole. If your hitch has this punch, it is a Class I hitch. The reason the punch is there, is to prevent customers f

  • Anti-rattle Device Recommendations for the Trailer Hitch Adapter # 80303
  • On the Hitch Adapter, # 80303, the end that fits into the trailer hitch requires a 1/2 inch hitch pin and the receiver side needs a 5/8 hitch pin like you have said. Provided that the bike rack shank is hollow, you may be able to use Anti-Rattle Device and Lock, # 63232. For the end of the adapter that fits into the trailer hitch, I recommend # 93347. Another issue that you may not be aware of is that the use of an adapter reduces the tongue weight capacity of a trailer hitch by 50 percent

  • Can a 1-1/4 Inch to 2 Inch Trailer Hitch Receiver Adapter be Used on an ATV Hitch for a Winch
  • Physically, yes, you can use a 1-1/4 inch to 2 inch adapter, like # 80303, in your ATV receiver. But, there are a couple of things you will need to be aware of. First, you will need to check to make sure that the receiver on the ATV has at least 2 inches of space from the center of the hitch pin hole back away from the receiver opening. If it has a closed back or something in the way and the obstruction is less than 2 inches from the hitch pin hole center, this adapter will not fit. Secon
